Season Ticket Boycott required! 17:43 - Apr 10 with 18445 views | TalkingSutty | It’s with a very heavy heart but I think somebody has to say it...the only way we will get Bottomley and this inept manager out of the Club is to refuse to purchase season tickets, otherwise we are funding their wages. The renewing of BBMs contract was the equivalent of putting two big fat fingers up to all of the Supporters, well it’s time the Supporters returned the compliment!

Season Ticket Boycott required! on 19:32 - Apr 10 by RAFCBLUE | Is that an initiative that could be administered by the Trust as both a legal entity and a shareholder in the club? Giving your money to the Trust instead of the Club will mean it will end up at Dale, just controlled by the Trust. Quite a statement - if we sold 1,000 season tickets at £200 a ticket for the Trust to hold £200,000 from those ST holders who would prefer not to renew under the current leadership. |
We were discussing an escrow account but were stuck on a credible body to manage it, our feelings being that the Trust was too close to the chief executive. However, that feeling has changed with recent Trust statements, so I may suggest that we ask the Trust for their thoughts on managing it.

Season Ticket Boycott required! on 19:07 - Apr 10 by 442Dale | There is no constant mantra. There is a process. Supporters need to be informed of what the situation is, this has so far happened with the excellent work by Fitzo and the subsequent response from CD to supporters questions. I am fully aware of the flaws of not following such a process properly. Please do not resort to assuming what I may or may not be thinking or what level of delusion I may be at (I’m fully aware of my own faults!). This is exactly what my previous post refers to. |
What is the ‘process’ and is it the same as the ‘plan’?. You mentioned a process a while ago which involved the Supporters Trust taking questions to the CEO and his Merry men, the questions are answered and then cascaded back to the fans...a complete waste of time and it gave those in the boardroom a easy cop out and chance to just appease the fans, it played into their hands. The Supporters Trust unfortunately are two years too late, the questions they are asking Chris Dunphy now should have been asked when he left the Club. As guardians of the club the moment the Chairman and a long standing Director left the club halfway through the season was when the alarm bells should have sounded and it should have been a priority to go and speak them but it wasn’t. Pedalling the myth that they had a close working relationship with the CEO and the Directors is something that we have seen numerous times on this forum, that can’t be denied. So unfortunately some of us have zero faith in the process, especially if it involves the Supporters Trust, as one of the major shareholders they should have been all over this sh*t show a long time ago but instead have been conspicuous by their absence. Most of the fan base are not Trust members anyway so are perfectly entitled to take whatever action they want. Do we give our season ticket money to the current CEO or do we keep hold of it and give it to the new CEO? I don’t need anybodies ‘process’ to tell me what to do with my own money anyway thank you very much!

As the Trust are governed by the votes of their members I would have thought that there are two motions: (1) The idea - should the Trust be willing to hold the money from unhappy supporters who do not want to give it to the current leadership but would, happily give it to the club? (2) The deployment of funds - the Trust will not deploy that money into the club until a suitable vote of its members passing a motion to do so. Pardon the pun but I'd trust the Trust.

There is no dispute that unless it’s done properly, that process where the Trust take questions from the fans to the club and then report replies and subsequently follow up, is flawed. As mentioned in a previous post and by myself at numerous times down the years both on here and directly to the Trust. It was a flawed process when not used effectively during previous regimesqt the club and with previous Trust board members, myself included which I’ll take on the chin that I could have done better. It needed setting out in stone with a basic structure so that everybody knew where they stood. As Judd mentions in a very recent post, the Trust appear to have began to address certain issues - see their reporting of a lack of response (something that was requested previously but not consistently followed in every circumstance) Should it have been done a long time ago? Yes. Did people do their best? A lot did and it wasn’t good enough. Back to my original points, fully agree people can and should be able to make their own choices - see my response to Chalky where that is reiterated. It’s something we all should be able to do and that’s all my original post in this thread aimed to get across in a reasonably reasoned way.

Those on the Trust Committee all have the club at heart I know that but we all have different ideas of what we want from a Supporters Trust. I want a Trust that prioritises the welfare of the Club and acts as it’s guardian, one that keeps a very close eye on what is happening within the club and one that keeps a professional working distance...certainly not one that invites club employees onto the Trust committee. A Trust Committee that sees a long standing Chairman and Director stand down mid season and then acts in a pro- active manner, goes and knocks on their doors and has a concerned chat with them. Give me a Supporters Trust like that and I will sign up tomorrow, i would volunteer to help them without hesitation. If the priority is arranging a quiz night or just raising money for charity, or being best mates with those running the Club then i’m not interested. Sending questions into the Directors prior to meeting them for a Q&A meeting and then not drilling down on answers, what a load of nonsense that is, that’s the type of stuff that deters people’s from signing up to the Trust. When things are sorted out the Trust needs a revamp, i think their membership would double if they did that.

It could happen as early as 19th April, and it's not giving the money to the Trust, it's holding it on account until the change as required is effected if it doesn't happen on 19th April.

Again, lots of fair points especially as they acknowledge and reiterate the shortcomings of the Trust throughout the years - something they will probably identify with themselves. But not something my original post in this thread was trying to address. Anyway, positive progression has definitely been made with a valid idea that can be worked upon.

Interesting to hear an outside view, chalky. The current custodians - Kelly, Bottomley, Rawlinson and Pockney - also have a consideration of how history is going to portray them. As too does Andrew Kilpatrick whose abrupt and sudden departure really began the unraveling less than 60 days ago. Down the road at bury they had some shocking leadership with Hughie Eaves, Stewart Day and then Steve Dale. Eaves was the only one of them a bury fan. Our lot are all supporters. Kelly in particular has been and will go down as a stalwart of local football and local community but he is in his eighties and will not be heavily involved in shaping the next 10 years of the club. Kilpatrick's father, Brian was a huge key to the success under Dunphy given the financial backing. The others have the choice to be remembered fondly or unfondly depending how the next 10 weeks go. We are League 2 bound, back to "the Rochdale division" Bottomley, Rawlinson and Pockney hold the key to transition. How that transition happens - orderly or not - will determine how they are remembered, given their admissions that they do not have the financials resources to remain.

Season Ticket Boycott required! on 21:17 - Apr 10 with 1522 views | SI_Blue | Unfortunately i was laughed at a year ago when i came on this board and suggested that the current CEO would lead this club down a very dark path. I wont ask for an apology but instead ask that for the future of our club, everybody works together for the common good. I am not going to slag the trust off, i think many people have already mentioned what most peoples perception of the trust is from an outside in view. Maybe members of the trust have seen the errors of their ways too and acknowledged this, which deserves respect. I do not think anybody can be told what to do with their money, and if that means purchasing a season ticket with DB still at the helm then so be it. But i have access to over 3000 fans via social media, and possibly it could be mentioned about putting any monies into a safe account and see what the response is. whoever is willing to manage this deserves much respect and also support if it gets off the ground. As the saying goes "it takes good men to stand by and do nothing" I think everybody is committed to the club and would not want to jeopardise its future. But we are also dealing with a Narcissist and trust me, the only way to deal with them, is to expose them for what they are. Narco's are very good at what they do and making people feel guilty whilst playing the victim. they are masters of gas lighting, triangulation, love bombing and future faking. The only way to get rid of a Narco is to look them in the eyes and say the words "you are a narco" they do not like being exposed and avoid confrontation by passing the blame, playing the victim or crocodile tears. Hit them where it hurts "the truth" Everybody needs to be on the same page right now and hopefully we can save the club from a possible slippery slope into oblivion.

It’s amazing how quickly so many “die hard fans” are so quick to turn their backs on the club, when it needs it most. Yes the current board (& CEO especially) need to exit the vicinity, but for so many people to be so eager to just write off giving the club any future money (season ticket sales) is literally just cutting off our nose to spite its face. Bottomley will be a blemish on our proud history, don’t destroy our club to spite him. I will be renewing my season ticket as well as doing my best to remove our CEO & current board.

I think you have misread the room, to coin a recently used phrase. Most people on the several threads are pledging not to spend any money at the club until Bottomley has resigned or been removed. I think everyone has just about had enough of him. Speaking personally; I will gladly purchase a season ticket the day he has gone. I'm sure I speak for the majority.

I’ve not misread anything. I’ve read Rochdale fans encouraging other Rochdale fans to cut off the lifeblood of our income. It concerns me greatly if you & other “fans” can that easily cut off financial support for our club at the most critical time in its history. I genuinely believe that myself and many other shareholders will be using all logical & rational options available to us to do as much as we possibly can to ensure Chris Dunphy is able to return to our club and deal with the problems at hand. We will already begin next season in a pathetic state financially, if you choose to make that situation worse then I seriously question your “fan” status.
