The Big Match Revisited 11:38 - Jun 13 with 4045 viewswimborne_dale

Just been watching it from 1976, Chelsea v Wolves;
A genuine highlights program as opposed to a tedious procession of action replays. Different times!

Pure joy

Lousy pitch..

Guest of honour..Henry Kissinger no less!!

Chelsea fans usual greeting chants for opposition fans inc..you gonna get your Effin heads kick in ..Chelsea aggro ..we will see you all outside...

Bobby Gould..Ray Wilkins... Steve Daley

Despite the freezing weather..Wolves keeper not wearing gloves..has finger reset during game

Corner flag breaks..

Big hair ..big ties and usual 70s fashion for all to see in the studio interview
Later in prog..interviewing players in the bath..

Reading out viewers letters ..giving their full postal address at the same time..no data protection then!!!!

Aye. A couple of post match interviews with the managers, a quick look at any controversial incidents and then on with the next game. No overpaid ex pros analysing every goal and decision from every conceivable angle with their crap technology.

It was awesome.

Another gem today with the program being presented by Elton John...

recent games shown brought back some of the old rules such as a direct free kick in the penalty area and the goalie taking too many steps when holding the ball

id forgotten how dire Chelsea pitch could be.

The sight of 4 St John ambulance men all aged 70+ taking to the field to chuck some poor player onto a stretcher looked like a scene from Monty Python

A direct free-kick in the area is a penalty!

What was it in the mid-1970s?

When I was your age, I used to enjoy the odd game of tennis. Or was it golf?
