What was the first pub you had a drink in and what was your first 'local'?
First pub: Bowling Green, Spotland Road

The Anchor for both questions. I am informed it was called this because the beer delivery cart had an anchor fixed attach to it there to slow it down when going down the hill into Lewes.

Then spent a lot of time in the Horse and Jockey when I got a part-time job at Kwik Save on Well I’Th Lane.

The Old Spot in Daybrook which was right next door to the place that I started work at 16,all the lads would go in straight from work and I followed them

Nell Gwynn because it was a five minute stagger home plus it sold a lovely pint called Five Star* which kept me there far longer than I should have stayed

*Was it available in Rochdale, probably a Scottish and Newcastle pint

Same here with the Hares! Thwaites beer.

First pint was either at The Egerton Arms or the (I think it was called) New Inn near Owd Betts where we liked to go as the Skill Shot on the fruit machine was doable! And they served Bass Special.

I think it's a day nursery these days, and the Egerton has been converted into cottages.

To add to the question: How much was your first pint? I seem to recall mine was about 70p.

Poll: Who do you think bury should appoint as their next manager?

Royal Oak in Littleborough to both questions.

First pint was 48p.

Th'Oak is now a charity shop!

When I was your age, I used to enjoy the odd game of tennis. Or was it golf?

Can't remember price of my first pub pint (someone older got it for me) but the cheapest I ever paid was 20 and a half p for handpumped Boddingtons mild in the Bonnie Dundee off Oldham Road. A superb pint and hammered for £1.50 ☺

Another one for the Duke Of Wellington on Blackwater street. I think you had to be under 18 to get served in there. Pint of mild, about 1and 6 that's about 7and1/2p today. You could gets legless on 10/-, 50p today.

First local, The Healey Hotel and I'm still in there about 2 or 3 times a week nowadays.

First drink was the Back Waggon in Milnrow but never claimed it as a regular. Slip Inn was even closer than that and was my regular for years but never actually ventured in.

Most regular for me was The Cem and The Church even though I lived miles away. Every Friday and Saturday in the Cem and then every Sunday in the The Church for the football.

If I hadn't seen such riches, I could live with being poor

11P a pint I think, circa 1972.

Brunswick was a decent pint of Thwaites and handy if you had wait for a bus.
Bloke called Bernard Fahey had it for a while and it had a coal fire in the tap room which was welcome on winter nights.

At the time, I did not know if it was a decent pint.
Took me a few years before I could say I had any expertise. Probably until I drank OB Bitter at the Summit.

The Ship inn. Slattocks. Nobody knew us in there. Still managed to get chucked out due to taking an hour and a half on 1 pint, due to lack of funds.

New Inn Castleton and Bridge Inn Castleton.
