Billy Beane at Barnsley should know that our Tony has patented soccer-moneyball - he spunks the money, the past-it ex-Chelsea wasters have a ball.

A magnificent football club, the love of our lives, finding a way to finally have its day in the sun.

The BBC article leaves out that Beane was merely a disciple of Bill James. If Bill James and fellow Moneyball devotees NESN group haven't managed to do much with Liverpool it'll be interesting to see if Beane is a silent or active partner in Barnsley an whether he can work his magic.

"The opposite of love, after all, is not hate, but indifference."

Couple of interesting comments from QPR supporters in the comments.

I'd imagine Redknapp has made a note of this development...

Given how they've run their other club Nice, this is more likely to follow the Brentford model - proper investment in infrastructure, try to gain an edge through analytics and youth, and hope to hit the jackpot through promotion.

Still though, starting to look a little out of place in this division aren't we?

From a QPR POV I'd hope are owners and Lawyers are monitoring everything everyone is doing now I still cant believe we lost that FFP thing and would love to know how our Lawyers stratedgy worked.

Barnsley have been run on the young players from lower leagues with sell on value model for years. This could be bad news for us, they're potentially one of those in the 'three teams worse than us' category at the moment, purely because they've lost so mny good players all at once.

Presumably a factor in why they were acquired - well, besides being openly available and very cheap (£20m was it?).

That being said, more than a few examples around of how an overly pushy analytics drive can get the balance all wrong.

Are we that bad that we are like frightened rabbits in the headlights at anything appearing positive to other clubs sends us running for the hills?

Think we need some motivational stuff chucked in our direction

Under FFP rules, does it make that big a difference?
I mean, the QPR owners are loaded but not allowed to throw money in.
