It's just something i heard, the figures I reckon are close. Think of it this way, how many employers give you a job based on a three month trial ? Both if not at least Bob went within that time.

Yeah agreed, I'd love to be sacked off with £650k, but it ain't gonna happen and I've done 34 years
Guido and Bob. on 21:29 - Dec 28 with 1666 views | Loyal | It's all in the contract, once signed it's a done deal. Not bad money for Bob at his age mind, hardly skint when he got to us.

They come from a land of franchises where loyalty to a club doesn't exist. They have no concept of what a club like Swansea means to it's local community.

It's a different sport culture over the pond. Mind you I think all the money that's floating round the PL has ruined the game over here in some respects, just my opinion.

Sometimes I am at a complete loss to explain where some posters get their ideas about sports in the States. There is not one thing in your post that is even close to being accurate. Not your fault, I think.

I have spent some time in Pittsburgh in recent years visiting friends and have been astounded at the degree to which the Steelers in particular are a massive part of the local community. A city built on heavy industry which has struggled to come to terms with the decline of said industry. I feel quite at home there because of clear parallels with Swansea. A place completely besotted with its sports teams. I've never seen a higher percentage of people showing their allegiance to their sports teams anywhere.

As someone who spent a lot of time in Boston, it is clear you have no idea what you are talking about. Bob was made an enemy when coming in (due to the Guido fire) and now is being treated the same way going out, and everyone is eating it up. Kick him on the way out, and blame him for all the club's woes. Read too much into the press selective quotes and setup questions. Eat up that yellow journalism. All this talk about 'class' and I don't see anyone showing it. The guy is out, and time to move on.
Guido and Bob. on 04:29 - Dec 29 with 923 views | phact0rri | I think I mentioned community for sports clubs in the US. Honestly the difference really tends to be, that unlike where relegation is a factor, the majority of 'sports fans' are normally only really into the actual sporting when the team is doing well, aside from that there's just complacent moaning about how the cardinals never win the pennant. Honestly your sports franchise here is not a worry, because its ran like a business, and as far as I know (and this is friends who support the teams over here) that the drafts are not anywhere near the fervor that we get from the transfer windows. But towns and cities definitely do fall in line, and people connect on the interests of their team-- and good results and bad results can damage a city from the anger sports supporters.

OK, I didn't put that across well at all. A rushed post that was obviously inaccurate. Perhaps I should have said that the Swans and their community links historically and with the ups and downs that we've lived through (my first game was in the mid to late seventies so I've had the rollercoaster ride in full bar the reelection to stay in the league) makes Swansea City a little more special. But that could be said of most UK clubs too. The franchise thing I had in mind as an example was the Oakland raiders who then went on to be the LA raiders and possibly back again? It may have happened in other areas of the US too but can't remember the other teams. Sorry for any "offense" *. *See what I did there

Spot on, this is. Now there are Sport clubs in the US that seem to have fantastic histories, but it really isn't the same thing. Its different having your club not win the league, as the worst thing that can happen-- and all these fantastic histories are more to do with epic wins. You rarely hear about how badly suffered American sports clubs/teams are. Because they are not. American sport are a commercial enterprise, and are built fully around entertainment and adverts. No one loses money, except the US tax payers who find themselves to often footing the bills. If you think Westham's London Stadium development deal with bad news on the UK citizen-- in the US we often find ourselves building stadia and add ons, and for none of that money being funneled back to State, instead its an interest free loan no one ever bothers to pay, and instead line their pockets with 100% profit. But I'm getting off topic :D honestly I think the massive difference in sport does come down to what makes us feel, the differences in culture. The US as a culture has this very sanitized, everyone is special and no one ever loses (you are just in second place) Raised that way, it makes very difficult to deal with real, and very serious loss, yeah Its just sport but it can affect all of us so deeply. So the club/Team your father supported with all that history, it has to be positive and fun so americans will keep tuning in, if the mets went down to a second division, thats not just losing a match, that's losing integrity, and who wants to support a loser team? Course I probably over think this stuff to much. Ha.
