Just had my demand notice through for the next financial year.
Band C. £123 per month.
Band C last year £94 per month.
That's almost 25% increase.
Does anyone else have this rise with their payments?

I shall be phoning them first thing Tuesady to find out the reasons and will feed back to all those concerned. |
Your monthly payments have definitely changed from 12 months to 10 months JF. You should be able to change them back to 12 months if you so wish (I believe as a new resident of Swansea I was given the option).

council tax has been going up 4 or 5% each year, year in year out; whilst inflation is way below that.
I like to do my bit and accept that paying taxes supports services and community. However I'm not voting for this shower again until they get a grip on the budget. Council Ta x is my biggest monthly bill now. |  |

£230 a month.
That's over half a season ticket every month and they're cutting services all over the place.
It's ten payments a year though not twelve for some reason. |  |

I'll tell you the reason, they revalued all of Wales as the first step of England and Wales, then shit out of doing it in England but kept it here. My house went up two bands overnight. Layer that on to the fact that we are paying for subsidising Newport projects and, yep, I do get annoyed. I would be much happier paying the same amount, or even more in (maybe local) income tax. At least then it would be fair on everyone. Flat property taxes are regressive and cruel. |  |
