£16m sounds like a fair price. Ayew wanted to join them before he came to us so we may have agreed to let him move on if they came for him.

Hell no - way too little for his 4 year contract.

I agree with Jackfath that £40 m isn't crazy, and would expect at LEAST £30 m based on his current stock price.

We get walked over on a regular basis when it comes to selling.

Be surprised if we held out for £20m.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if he had a £16m release clause in his contract. Disappointed, but not surprised.

Particularly to a club like that. We need to get used to it. Played well, it's our business model. Southampton seem to play this game much better than us. I wouldn't let him go in January, whatever, less than a season would be ridiculous.

Gomis must be gutted the papers aren't speculating about him too.

Players values and wages are going to go flying up as soon as the new TV deal comes in. We know it, Liverpool know it. Anyone wanting to buy a top notch goal scoring midfielder in January is going to have to pay through the nose. Would Everton have ever turned down £30m+ for a centre back before? Clubs are going to start spending this money before they get it.

Ayew will be going no where this January transfer window!

No way would we sell him in a middle of the most important lucrative and financial season ever in football history!

16m is a pittance and WTF would there be a lowly 16m release clause in his contract!

The Summer will be a different story if Klopp wants him then and Ayew wants to move on to a club that might be in the Champions Leaugue then so be it, for at least 50m (Rahim Sterling£££).

Very proud to be voted Planet Swans Poster of the Year 2017 by my fellow posters. Especially on a site that nearly had 20 million impressions last year.

If he was to be sold in Jan then unless he was to put in a transfer request, he'd still be entitled to the rest of his signing on fee which probably equates to around £7.5m.

One of the reports says that the £16m is what we are paying Ayew/agent for the four years of the contract. If that is true then letting him go for under £20m wouldn't make much sense. True we would keep the money we hadn't yet spent, but when you think of what Liverpool have laid out elsewhere (take Southampton, for example) it isn't great money. I'd say the fee has to be north of £30m to be attractive. Even then you have the problem of who you can sign as a replacement - there are plenty of expensive flops around, and even with players who have done well elsewhere there is the uncertainty of how they will adjust to the EPL.

Think this is close to the mark.

Ayew has come here knowing we are the best stepping stone option in the premier league, if we have a clause in their it needs to work for both parties so £16m would be about right.

Take the money and let Siggy return to being the player he was last season.

The strange thing is why he wasn't signed by them in the summer.

One of the main reasons why Rodgers got the sack. Spending stupid money on average players.

It's just one of those stories made up by the papers. Klopp was supposed to have admired Ayew whilst at Dortmund. Now he's at Liverpool he will probably want to change the side around once he's taken a look at it. So a journalist creates a story quoting 'sources'. Journalist plucks a price out of thin air.
