Ireland is a republic because the irish people wanted it to be a republic. About a hundred years ago.... Some might consider the USA another example ? |

You maintain respect throughout every day of year, this does not change because you refuse to wear something that society has dictated as essential.

Kenya was definitely the worst and most shameful episode in the history of the British Empire. It was in the face of a serious insurrection but that was no excuse. However that is at one end of the scale, let's not ignore the other.

James Mclean on 10:56 - Nov 8 by C_jack | I haven't worn one for years, I don't need people on the tele, or on the street to remind me that people have died in conflict. and I certainly don't need jumped up c**ts telling me once a year to have respect for those who perished, either. We will remember them, but we will often forget why they made the ultimate sacrifice |
The RBL poppy appeal is not just to remind people about those that have give their lives, but to help raise money to look after todays injured service personnel http://www.britishlegion.org.uk/get-involved/poppy-appeal Felix Agbotsu from Northallerton served in the Royal Artillery as a Gunner. In June 2004, at the age of 21, he was involved in a horrific car crash that left him paralysed from the neck down. "To help his recovery, he spent 18 months as a patient at the Legion’s Lister House. Since then we’ve continued to support Felix, paying for adaptions to his mobility vehicle that give him the freedom to leave the house again. "I have received help from the Legion for almost 10 years now. I don’t know what I would’ve done without them." Without your help, we couldn’t support people like Felix. So please make sure you wear your poppy with pride, knowing that you are helping the Armed Forces family to Live On." I am ex Royal Air Force and I wear my poppy with pride. Not only to remember my family and friends that have been injured/ killed in service, but to remember all service personnel killed because of daft politicians in every country. Please don't have a pop at anyone who doesn't wish to wear a poppy. It's called freedom of speech/ freedom of expression, which people have died to ensure. Although politicians everywhere try and erode it at every turn. To those who don't wish to wear a poppy. Please still donate a little, as you will be helping current military, their wives and girlfriends. Politicians don't give a flying fuk once someone is no use to them. Sorry for the political rant everyone. After the minutes silence, let's make a lot of noise, beat Arsenal for all the Jacks no longer with us, friends, family and comrades in arms alike.

I remember reading a post by a poster on another sports site about the village he is from in Connacht, somebody asked him the day, so I checked it out and what he said was right the English led British state entered his village and slaughtered all the males over the age of about 8 I think it was. Some prisoners were tortured and most of the houses in the area were burned to the ground, it was only 200 years ago, he doesn't wear a poppy.

Too many to mention, Kenya has already been mentioned, I have relatives in Australia and heard stories of Aborigines being used as target practice [don't know if that is urban myth or not], Maoris in NZ, India, Ireland the list go's on and on. Don't want to put any photo's up of the English lead British State concentration camps in South Africa but if you want to check out Lizzie Van Zyl who was one of many that is up to you. Wales back in the day the beat a huge English army that had been reinforced by the Danish navy and soldiers from Aquitaine to try and solve the Welsh problem as they saw it once and for all, the Welsh gave them such a kicking that on their way back home they blinded innocent people and burned down Welsh places of worship, the Welsh knights had a debrief with their leader the next day and some wanted to nip over the border and do the same thing back but the leader said no, we are better than that we have standards. Thank God i'm Welsh with Welsh standards and values, many nationalities when abroad are reluctant to say where they are from that is not the case if you are Welsh, not many people know history but the ones that do tend to like the Welsh.

British ?, what do you mean now by British ?, British is some kind of made up entity, lots in this area are Welsh/Celts, most of the Vikings were invading what is now modern day England and fighting Germanic tribes, one lot of immigrants fighting another lot of immigrants some would say, what's that got to do with a Welsh boyo on a Welsh board ?. They did have a go at our lot and we fought back and that's it, Romans, Irish tribes, Germanic tribes, Normans, English state they all had a go, it is it what it is, someone has a go you do your best and fight back. Wales is still here and we still have our national identity the boys are taking on the Aussies this afternoon. Come on boys its about time we beat them again.

Scots had the vote and done the correct thing. Trouble is with Irish from years gone by to today is that their head is ruled by what is past on to them by their forefathers. Their patriotism out does their judgement on what is right and wrong. This James McClean scenario highlights this. Im married to a Irish gal and can see their good but all this Republic stuff is definetley one of their few downfalls.
