Firstly, if true, it would be a shame if Robbie has been released. Quality back-up to Lillis. Sadly, however, he is at the stage of his career where he needs to be starting games and maybe he wasn't given that guarantee.

Secondly, his dad would not be bidding for Hogan. As has been mentioned already, he is a goalkeeping coach at Hibs. Unless Robbie was talking about his dad's latest game on Football Manager.

Talking of quality Scottish keepers, Raith's David McGurn would be a belting acquisition. He is quite rightly dubbed by the Kirkcaldy natives as David "How The F**K Did He Get To That" McGurn. He was known as "Stiffler" at Morton, but we won't go into that.*

*Hilly said we were allowed to have fun speculating about recruitment, so I am!

Doesnt mean that he has been released, he could have turned down or terms and can move on as a bosman

I'd be disappointed in him if he didn't want to move on where he's got a better chance of first team football

Keith Hill said on Dale player that he'd be meeting with players individually on Wednesday, so you're talking rubbish.

He is out of contract he can do what he likes. Perhaps he is looking for first team football and/or he would like to move back to Scotland?

Right about Robbie Thomson's release.

But Collis has the option of a new contract at Dale.

As for Thomson's dad bidding for Scott Hogan ... ?

Hibs could not afford Hogan. Nor do they have the capacity to fulfil his potential.

Shame about Thomson's release but, as said, a keeper of his quality won't want to be on the bench for his entire career. Save for a few loan spells in the Scottish lower leagues, that's all he's done so far.

Isn't/Wasn't Tom Farmer something like the 600th richest person in the UK...also owns 90% of Hibs?

Pretty sure they could afford Hogan, although I wouldn't expect them to be vying for him, been a while since they've splashed the cash.

Mind you...£1.2m for De La Cruz some time back...more money than sense!

Hibs could not afford Hogan. While Butcher has said he targets lower league English players, he has been very vocal about the restraints he faces in recruitment. No transfer fees where possible.

Hibs also face the prospect of remaining in the relegation play-off spot. They are not a team for an up and coming talented forward such as Hogan.
