A winning mentality is one of the best assets a club can have going into a new season. And boy have the Silkmen got it in abundance following one of the best pre season's ever known.
Ok so when you look at our opponents on paper it doesnt look that tough. But you can only beat what is put in front of you and Macc have done just that.
We started off back at the start of July with a trip to glorious Buxton on a Friday night. It was a chance for some of the new lads to show what they can do. Goals from Tyrone Barnett, Nat Brown and Richard Butcher sealed a 3-1 win.
A short plane journey over to Ireland was next on the agenda where we played a couple of games against Cliftonville and Crusaders. Emile Sinclair scored both goals in the 2-0 win against the reds whilst we were beaten at the Crusaders.
Back home and a visit to Leek Town followed by a game at Newcastle Town. A great show at Harrison Park by the lads with seven goals on the scoresheet and another five at Newcastle with Matthew Hamshaw scoring a couple.
A young Manchester City side visited the Moss Rose and proved a good test for the Silkmen. It was experience that won the day though with the Silkmen running out 2-1 winners.
Old rivals Altrincham welcomed us all at Moss Lane and we saw another couple of goals go in and yet another win on the board. Tyrone Barnett showing what a handful he is up front got on the scoresheet again with the second from Emile Sinclair. That was Emile's 7th goal of pre season.
A 4-0 win at Congleton and then the 1-0 win against Rhyl at the Moss at the weekend made these stats below a joy to read.
