Friday, 8th Nov 2024 14:03

He might have been out injured since April, but Gavin Bazunu remains highly regarded in the Republic Of Ireland and is one of 3 nominees for the player of the year title in the senior mens International side.

Gavin Bazunu has had his critics, but the reality is he played a big part in helping Southampton to 4th place in the Championship and the springboard to win in the play offs, some Saints supporters may have uncharitably forgotten the contribution he made for 90% of the season and especially in the long unbeaten run, but in his home land they have not forgotten his performances for the International side and he is one of 3 nominees for the Player of the Year award.

irishmirror.ie have reported that Bazunu along with Chiedozie Ogbene and striker Evan Ferguson for the Senior Men's International Player of the Year Award.

The performances taken into account for the awards are from June 2023 to June 2024, although as we know Bazunu was injured from April and missed the Irish end of season game.

Bazunu and Ferguson are also up for the Young Men’s International Player of the Year award, along with our own Will Smallbone.
