Pellegrini Deal Could Be Hijacked By Russia Tuesday, 21st Jun 2016 21:10 If it wasn't bad enough Russian Ultras jumping out and ruining the Euros for England fans, it now seems the Russian FA could jump out and ruin the Pelligrini deal for Saints.
According to media sources tonight the Russian FA is set to offer Manuel Pelligrini a small fortune to manage their team till the end of the 2018 World Cup.
The Russian Football Association (RFS) has seemingly set their sights on the 62-year-old about to become former Manchester City boss after the sniggeringly named coach Leonid Slutski departed after Russia's 3-0 defeat to Wales on Monday night which resulted in the Russians going out of Euro 2016.
It is said that they have offered Pellegrini a two year "Millionaires" deal and it is being said that the Chilean is very tempted.
What might sway him though is the fact that with Russia hosting the 2018 World Cup he only has a series of friendlies to look forward to over the next two years, so it is not so much of a job but a caretaker role and at the end of it should he still be in place he is on a hiding to nothing with Russia on home soil expecting to do well, but judging by the standard of this summer, light years away from having a decent side.
Of course perhaps this might just be a ruse by his agent to panic Saints into making a quick decision and upping the money on offer.

Whether it is Pellegrino, Puel, Howe, Garcia, uncle Tom Gobbly and all, the club need to pull their finger out, stop pussy footing around and get on with it. They knew Koeman was going, they effectively decided that unless he extended his contract they did not want him to see out his final year, so I assume they had a plan. Why as a club we can seemingly lose people quickly (and in the case of Wanyama - cheaply), and be slow and ponderous when it comes to recruiting a manager and players? Year in, year out since being in the PL we have handled the close season poorly and been ill prepared to manage it.

I think Pellegrini is a cert for Saints. The only thing is that his unveiling will happen on July 1st, because until June 30th he is officcialy under contract with City. BTW: Bulgarian Saints National Meeting will be held for the third consecutive year on July 30/31 (Saturday/Sunday) in Bozhentsi (the Balkan mountains). Non-Bulgarian Saints fans are fondly welcome. Good word 'ponderous' A1079 - it does seem that our way of doing things is measured and sometimes a bit slow. That word 'swoop' so beloved of the tabloids certainly never applies to us. I'm not convinced that Pelligrini will come to us but I doubt he will want exile in Russia - whatever the size of the cheque.

He is a very rich man already and I know we have been sucker punched by money but going to Russia would ruin him Russia have nothing to offer him in regards of players there terrible surely no one with his cv would like take a losing team at the end of there excellent cv

Why on earth does anyone want Pellegrini at our club. I can't believe you guys. My mood on this is only raised by the new knowledge that there is a Bulgarian Saints group and that they have an annual meeting (p1ss up I assume?!). Great to have you guys on board:-)

Perhaps it should say 'shot down' rather than 'hi-jacked' - isn't that more their style??

Six games in just four weeks, with four of them against sides also in the bottom six. By March we should be either well clear of danger, or even deeper in the sh*t. With Danny Cowley’s U’s still unbeaten, and looking stronger game on game, I’m sure it’ll be the former, but first we have to do our bit to consign Steve ‘Sour Grapes’ Cotterill’s FGR back to non-league. After our shambolic 5-0 defeat at New Lawn, nothing would give me greater pleasure, even if it meant losing one of my closest awaydays in the process.
