I would like also to add my thanks to Nick and to so many of the other contributors. Due to age and distance I am not able to see as many games as I used to but am proud to be able to read the comments of many of our contributors and therefore be part of the Saints community. Lets hope we get back to where we and our support deserves to be. |
| News Comment | Southampton At Sheffield Wednesday The Verdict at 18:12:26
Great to win the first game and with goals from open play. Also liked the way we kept possession with slick passing which could be useful in holding on to a lead with the extra time being a regular part of the game now.. Hope we can keep JWP and strengthen defence. |
| News Comment | Ruben Selles ! A Good Man In The Wrong Place At The Wrong Time at 21:51:35
Good article and some excellent comments. No other premier club would have put Selles in such a position with no support from an experienced director of football / or seasoned manager. He was on a hiding to nothing from the start. This season has shown everyone how not to run a football club. So many deserve better Selles being one of them and a number of players who keep putting in a shift week after week without the right backing. What a shambles. |
| News Comment | Jesse Marsch Is Not Nathan Jones Mk 2. at 21:43:38
I am not impressed by his stats whichever way you look at them. The best thing about any deal with him would be the short term contract and a huge bonus if successful, this at least concentrates the mind. Even if he achieved this I would still prefer a quality manager to take us forward. What a mess we are in. |
| News Comment | Watt View - Fantastic win but Jones need to focus on football at 09:56:34
He seems to have a few chips on his shoulders and has to accept criticism with more grace. Having said that it's a tough job he's taken on and if we can stribg a few results together he will gather confidence and we may see a different person who is not looking over his shoulder all the time. |
| News Comment | Southampton Sack Ralph Hasenhuttl at 11:10:42
Inevitable I suppose and fitting in a way that the lack of a proven goalscorer which I'm sure he would have wanted in the summer was the final nail in the coffin. Ellyannoussi's miss of the season and Che having a really bad day in a game when I thought we played some descent football. Thanks Ralph for your work and good luck in the future where I hope you will have a supportive board. |
| News Comment | Southampton V Aston Villa The Verdict at 21:54:39
From day 1 of the transfer window, the priorities were a finisher and a defensive organiser. Possibly supported by some young talent but also some experienced organisers. We had the busiest transfer windsow in years and we have just witnessed an awful awful performance, what is the point? |
| News Comment | Southampton At Tottenham Hotspur The Verdict at 15:32:10
Most of us are singing from the same hymn sheet. Unless we win on Saturday we have until the end of the month to save the season with some tough decisions to be made. Is the board up for this? |
| News Comment | Southampton v Liverpool The Preview at 10:19:49
We owe it to our integrity , to our fans, to the premier league , and to Man City whom we held to 2 draws in the league to put out our best team and to show everybody the character we have as a team and as a club. |
| News Comment | Southampton V Crystal Palace The Verdict at 13:56:13
I agree with the above especially Lord Lucan, how I long to see a report stating we won because we wanted it more than the opposition instead of they wanted it more than us. |
| News Comment | Southampton V Wolverhampton Wanderers The Verdict at 10:45:03
We have now seen what happens when :- 1.you replace a £30m striker with a £15m one. 2. you have to play a right back as a left back, as good as he is. 3. when you sell a tall centre back who is a nuisance at corners and don't replace him. 4. we were meant to have 2 players for each position, a couple more injuries would be serious, Looks like a long season again despite the defence looking more stable. |
