Well that was bloody awful!
at 22:12 5 Apr 2025

I dunno if the sun and the general end of winter has left me feeling too happy but I didn’t think it was that bad

It’s an injury ravaged team missing pretty much all of its best players that wasn’t that great a team in the first place.

To say it’s one of our worst ever performances doesn’t even go back one week, we were way worse against Stoke.

I can’t fault their effort, once that’s in question it’s a different story, but today looked like a semi reserve team trying hard.

Cardiff Reflection
at 18:09 5 Apr 2025

It had nil nil written all over it from early on but I can take some positives from it - we joined the battle and looked as up for it as this limited squad can get (in the first half), Alfie Lloyd proved playing someone with physical presence at centre forward is crucial and even Bennie showed something, Smyth had a great first half, Colback and the defence played well. Paal was excellent, credit where it’s due

Still it’s small pickings, this team has been decimated by injuries and not sure what else Marti can do but try and limp us home. The squad just isnt big enough to cope with losing all its experienced players and all its forwards at the same time. Varane had an absolute nightmare and set them up for attacks four or five times by giving it away

Cardiff looked shite and wouldn’t be surprised if they go down. Any team in form would have romped that game

Dembele has had a free ride this season
at 21:51 4 Apr 2025

He looked brilliant when he first joined, got badly injured and is working his way back to fitness playing minutes here and there in a series of random positions in a team badly out of form.

Give the kid a break for fks sake

Games left- So simple
at 18:36 1 Apr 2025

Oxford were comfortably the worst team I've seen this season at our place, but then that Stoke game we were just as bad.

It's fairly simple, if we can't get enough points from these games to stay up then it's fully deserved.

Having Frey fit is going to define our season IMO. Pray for the big lad

I was happy to swallow the sports science stuff last season when we went through the whole thing with a mostly fit squad.

This season before every game two of our players have got injured midweek or “before travelling” and are out for a month.

Whoever is in charge of squad fitness this year has not covered themselves in glory - appreciate there’s a lot of luck involved but that team out there was missing a healthy amount of potential starters and boy it really showed.

I get that this is almost our reserve team but we’ve been absolutely woeful on the ball. No options, negative, hopeful long balls to nobody.

George Foreman has died.
at 19:30 22 Mar 2025

One of my greatest celebrity encounters was being in a lift in a hotel in LA and George Foreman got in. I’d had a few and involuntarily said to my mate “George F-kin Foreman!”

He was a total gentleman. His first response was “now you’re not going to ask me for a grill are you?”

So player of the season?

Surely Jimmy Dunne by miles. Honourable mentions to Smyth and Nardi. Nobody else has stayed fit for long enough.

A weird season once again

While we did a great deal getting 2m for Sinclair, right now I’d take Sinclair Armstrong and another 1m forward over Celar.

Really hope he doesn’t get any abuse in the home game, he tried his eccentric bollox off for us and earned us money. Despite his obvious limitations one of the most exciting players we’ve had in a while

Dunno how anyone can walk away from that game feeling grumpy.

Maybe it didn’t come across on the stream but the whole team worked their bollocks off today and for once we competed in midfield, thought Colback and Edwards were excellent against a strong team and Andersen played his part too. Frey was his usual industrial self but didn’t stop for 90 minutes. A lot of snidey fouls by us too including Saito’s red which to me is a good thing, we looked really up for it today

A good open game and we could have won it - we had a couple of breakaways where a a better ball would have left them wide open. We could also have lost - after their second goal we sat back and got battered for 30 mins.

Lovely sunny day, pubs packed, enjoyable game to watch, gave the champions elect a proper game and Jimmy Dunne did a 360 pirouette in injury time and almost set up a winner. I’d have taken that all day long

No Field or Varane has made an already fairly patchy midfield non existent.

It’s like we’re playing in a big circle with the ball. Never ever goes inside, just round the edges.

The ONE time we somewhat fortunately go inside via Yang we almost score.

We’ve turned down easy inside balls so often and it’s driving me mad. Why?

Schools

Another one who went to Mount Carmel in Ealing and then Latymer.

Felt like a fish out of water for years there but got to like it in the end. It’s quite the place these days, not a chance I can send my kids there!

The playing fields were great, still there although I got an email the other day to say the school are moving to a new ground, they’re going to keep them as playing fields though and other schools are to use them.

Used to love the runs round the river, the “bandstand” and the “Briault Cup”

World Cup Final Half Time Show
at 13:36 6 Mar 2025

They've tried this before, anyone at the first Sky game at Maine Road?

At half time on a shitty Monday night in Moss Side Sky brought out fireworks, cheerleaders and Undercover to do his crap cover version of Baker Street, while the whole crowd either ignored it or told them to fk off.

I think it lasted a few weeks before they quietly binned it
