Saving a team from relegation in the Championship is different from saving one from relegation in the Premier League. Surely, Southampton need someone with a track record in the PL? |

On the pitches that I used to play on, you would not have done that. Well, maybe once. A stone in the knee can be somewhat discouraging. |

I thought the keeper tried half-heartedly to block Smyth, who had to decide whether to go down. This time, he made the right decision. |

Much of that game was, indeed, a very hard watch for Rangers fans. But, we are still closer to the drop zone than fans and the club would wish us to be. That requires a game plan, in order take the climb up the table. Marti's plan was clearly to defend doggedly and try to catch them on the break. It was ugly but it worked. The defenders were very good at their job. It would have been even better if the break-out moves were conducted more carefully and if our lonely striker had been able to hold on to the ball a little longer. But, we are not Liverpool. We have to make the best of what we have and Marti does that well. Like it or not, today's result was a success. |
| Forum Thread | Joe Gelhardt of Leeds United at 09:34 13 Dec 2024
I had never heard of him, but there is a rumour that we are interested in getting him on loan in January. Apparently, Leeds would not want him to go to a club that is competing with them for promotion, hence this: “QPR would be one of those teams that isn’t going to interfere with Leeds’ promotion chances, so if he is not going to go to a top club in the Championship, then he may well look at a move to Scottish giants Rangers.” In view of that comment, it would be particularly satisfying to 'interfere with' their promotion chances. Trouble is, I don't think Joe Gelhardt would help us achieve that, or would he? Anyone know? |

Like everyone else, I am delighted with the tightening up of the defence. But, in the first half last night, a better team than Oxford would have taken advantage of some very sloppy play from Rangers. How many unforced errors were there in the first 45 minutes? It was very hard to understand after Saturday's performance. |

Half-time could not come too soon. Oxford look unambitious and we are sloppy. If this were a Sunday morning team, I would attribute it to hangovers. How can the performance look so different from that of Saturday? Marti will surely shake this up. |

Didn't Peter Ramage get stick initially? I am pretty sure he won the fans round though. |

So much to be encouraged by - the creation of scoring chances; then the dogged defending and the overall team spirit. Both sides had 'What if?' moments but Rangers came away with more credit than Watford. Sadly, the same number of points though. |

His first few months have shown us what he can't do. He is clearly not a 'bustling, chase everything down, hold the ball up' attacker. His team-mates - who were delighted for him at Cardiff - steered by the boss, need to think about how he can be deployed most effectively. There have been lots of prolific goalscorers who have been successful without roughing up defenders - Phillips, Keane, Defoe come to mind. |

The shot from Willock that dipped, but went just over the bar, almost spoilt our evening. |

Oh dear. No answer to this. |

I am not often seen in MacDo but, on a recent journey, it was almost the only option (Taunton Deane services). I cannot remember exactly the name of the burger but I think it was a 'Double Big Mac' (??) Not expensive. Tasted reasonably OK. But, I could not work out how to eat it without half of the contents falling out of the burger and running down my chin and clothes. No plates. No cutlery. Genuine question: how does one eat such a thing? |
