 | News Comment | It’s the economy, stupid – Preview at 14:55:18
Thanks for your preview. Yes, the context is parachute payments which are having a dominating influence on the league (except for Luton). Hard to see us getting anything out of this, but sometimes we come good when all the signs are bad. |
 | News Comment | Blades still in promotion pole despite Leeds setback – Oppo Profile at 14:20:59
Thanks to Oli and Jimmy. A good season so far, a lot of players who have played well, and vindication for Wilder who seemed to have lost his touch. Even if Dunne does go in the summer, there didn't seem to be any point to selling him now as United were not prepared to cough up. One good thing about Jack Robinson at QPR was that he did chip in with goals. |
 | News Comment | Oh, it's Eu again - Preview at 18:51:32
Thanks for your preview. Eustace's move is presumably due to a) things being such a mess at Blackburn that anything else is preferable and b) Eustace gambling that he can keep Derby up. One reason Eustace's Birmingham beat us was the sheer number of Birmingham players with big hair. Now we have Kolli for such occasions (even if he can't play tonight). It would be nice to think that the Eustace effect won't have kicked in yet, but who knows? |
 | News Comment | In the blue corner – Report at 17:23:54
Thanks for your report. Yes, it was a choker to lose in the last minute, and yes, it could have gone the other way. Yes, Frei should have scored. Yes, Paal's corners were wasteful, and it makes you wonder if we have no other corner takers at the club. Coventry had evidently put a lot of thought into their corners, periodically switching from crowding Nardi on the line to standing further out. Alongside the more crude attempts to barge Nardi, Coventry also used Sakamoto more subtly to stand next to Nardi and try to stop Nardi raising his arms. Eventually we got caught out by one of those corners. |
 | News Comment | A meeting of the Championship's two great recoveries - Preview at 19:34:49
Thanks for your preview and your review of our comparative fortunes since last we met Coventry. We are next to Coventry in both the league table and the form table (over the last 6 games). Having said that, Coventry spent some money in the summer, and do look to have some firepower, even if their top scorer (Wright) is out. It will be interesting to see how we match up against another side in the mid-table pack. |
 | News Comment | Dunne-less Rangers downed at The Den – Report at 17:26:53
Thanks for your report. Disappointing not to get something after our away wins at Plymouth and Hull. There's definitely a problem with attacks coming in on our left hand side, with Fox and Paal not being able to sort themselves out to stop crosses. For the second goal Fox looked completely paralysed. A shame after Lloyd's goal which made me think we could get back into the game. I agree with gazza1 and Geoff78 that Chair is not looking himself. I really hope we haven't lost momentum...perhaps the defence will recover if Dunne isn't sold to Sheffield United. |

Thanks for your preview and taking us through our options on Dunne. Schizophrenic? Us? That's one reason we haven't played the transfer market well in recent years. I must admit that despite his ups and downs with us, losing Dunne feels like losing our rock, particularly as so many of his fellow defenders have looked shaky (Fox) or have disappeared because of injury (Cook, Clarke-Salter). One thing that is troubling about Yang Min-Hyeok's situation is that rather than being allowed to develop for a few years in his local team, he has been hoovered up by a club that is not going to play him. Probably not an ideal time to be meeting Millwall as they have picked up a bit of steam, but then so have we. |
 | News Comment | Pair of away wins kick-start Neil’s Millwall reign – Oppo Profile at 23:26:44
Thanks to Lucas and James. It sounds like there has been a lot of upheaval at Millwall, and Harris's departure was a bit of a mystery as the team were doing ok. Alex Neil also seemed to be doing ok until he went to Stoke, but nobody does well at Stoke. Perhaps he will get back on track at Millwall. |
 | News Comment | Sun sets on QPR’s winning run as Rohl triumphs once more – Report at 11:51:31
Thanks for your report. Unfortunately Sheffield Wednesday hadn't read the script (the one where we win because Chansiri is mad). Even before they scored, Sheffield Wednesday had the better chances. They sucked up our attack when we were on top, and as the game wore on hit us with goals from a long ball and a counter-attack. On the positive side, looking at this week's results, we are a lot better off with 2 wins and a defeat than we would have been with 3 draws. |
 | News Comment | Uncharted territory for homecoming R’s versus unpredictable Owls – Preview at 14:38:49
Thanks for your preview. Ah, enjoyment. That was a luxury that we couldn't afford (like strikers). Instead the discussion seemed to be about whether we could hang on for dear life in the Championship, or whether going down would do us a world of good and allow us to rebuild (which I didn't believe for a moment). It would love to think our winning run could continue given Sheffield Wednesday's problems, but it never quite seems to work out like that. |
 | News Comment | Saito San for the little engine that suddenly can – Report at 13:43:04
Thanks for your report. The game could have gone another way in the first half. Both wingers Vaughan and Gelhardt gave us problems. The first goal was a bizarre scramble, and showed how vulnerable Hull's defence was. The second goal was an individual masterpiece from Saito. I don't know whether Lloyd is a pantomime horse, but one thing that he is very good at is shielding the ball. Who would have have thought that we could emerged from two away trips at opposite end of the country with 6 points? |
 | News Comment | Going through changes – Preview at 19:33:56
Thanks for your preview. Ideally it would have been better to play Hull before their new manager bounce (Hull are not that far behind us in the form table), although they do seem to have significant injuries. Hull is cold, up North, and a long way from Plymouth. Intriguing to see if our run can continue under these conditions. |
 | News Comment | Selles summoned to rescue endangered Tigers - Oppo Profile at 18:59:30
Thanks to Nathaniel. It feels like Hull never recovered from getting rid of Rosenior. Rubén Sellés had to work under impossible conditions at Reading...let's see what he does with a side that's had some money spent on it. |
 | News Comment | Kolli crowns big week with perfect Plymouth winner – Report at 11:24:54
Thanks for your report. Despite our many chances, Grimshaw was stopping everything, so a draw (or even a loss if Plymouth had managed to score) looked on the cards. That was until Mumba's mistake. Kolli still had a lot to do. It's the sign of a good striker to get the ball into right into the corner of the net, and Kolli has been doing that recently. |
 | News Comment | Flying KLM all over again – Preview at 12:24:20
Thanks for your preview. As you pointed out in your match report on the FA Cup game against Leicester...given the circumstances, the result wasn't that surprising. We can only hope that resting players does actually pay off (it's also worth remembering that we have had significant injuries to key players throughout the season). Our record against Plymouth is not great. The questions are: a) can we keep our league form going and b) have Plymouth turned a corner now they have got rid of Rooney? |
