First film you ever see at the cinema/pictures.
at 17:29 4 Sep 2024

Quite sure it was Jaws.....never been able to swim in the sea (or pool) without worrying what might be below me...think it was at the old ABC on the Edgware road. Bearing in mind I was only 8 years old though. How we got in being so young I will never know!

Poland v Holland
at 16:11 16 Jun 2024

I thought the commentary ( or lack of) was a breath of fresh air. I don't know the name of the lady commenting, but she took me back to the late great Brian Moore. Just made enough comments at the right time and nothing more. She was fantastic. I truly can't stand Clive Tyldseley or Sam Matterface who don't shut up. Telling us things that have no meaning to a match itself or anything I care about. They totally spoil watching football with there constant gibberish. More of her please.

Leaving loftus road...
at 17:56 14 Jun 2024

I went to the London Stadium on Sunday to watch the Baseball. Let me tell you that the seats in terms of leg room are no better than our beloved Loftus Road. No room whatsoever. I am 6'4 so I reckon I know about legroom. Having suffered for many years at HQ I was expecting better at a new stadium.
However, the vast amount of food, drinks and toilets available was mindblowing. For someone now in there mid fifties, I really liked the ease and choices that were available. And the atmosphere in and around the Stadium was fantastic. But a very different event in comparison to our beloved QPR where we are at the ground for a shorter time. I for one want to be comfortable- but not in a soulless stadium that so many others have mentioned.

What is your second sport.
at 16:16 4 Jun 2024

Apart from the mighty hoops. I have followed NFL on and off for 40 years. 49ers fan.
When I was working nights in the printing industry many years ago, I started following MLB as channel 5 had a live game on Sunday night - I became a Mets fan as too many damn Yankees already.
Got tickets for this years London series at west Ham ground. It is my Mets v Phillies. Really looking forward to it. Also been too two games in the States. San Diego after a road trip and Mets in there last season at Shea stadium. The wife wasn't impressed- divorced now 😁

Country

A big shout out for Rodney Crowell. Saw him live 20 years ago and was blown away. Never considered myself a country fan but he is fantastic. Fates right hand and the outsider are two fantastic albums. He was also married to Rosanne Cash (daughter of the legend) so great Gene's.

Film Night
at 16:48 14 Mar 2024

Two of the greatest films directed by the genius Sam Peckinpah. I give you the Wild Bunch or Cross of Iron. Both way ahead of there time. I believe that the Wild Bunch was banned for a time due to its use of slow motion in the shootings. It has the best beginning and end to a film I have ever watched. You will not be disappointed in either.

Thank you Stan for allowing us to have you among us Hoops. My father ( life long hoop) passed away many years ago and I bet he can't wait to buy you a pint up there.

You will never be forgotten.

Grew up close to Church Street Market Marylebone/Paddington. Many hoops and unfortunately scum around there. Now very happily living in Salisbury.

For me it can only be Quadrophenia. A true masterpiece of music, lyrics and story telling.

London ULEZ, who can afford it now
at 17:21 16 Aug 2023

I work for the Royal Mail in Salisbury, we have now lost all our petrol Vans as they are being sent to Greater London offices there for ULEZ rules. We have been sent heaps of old diesel junk in gratitude.

Non League 2023/24 Season
at 18:50 1 Jul 2023

Well that's my 1st game of the season over with and how refreshing and positive it all was. Salisbury FC (step 3) 8 Shaftesbury Town (step 5) 0 - much stiffer tests to come methinks.

When I was at Quintin Kynaston it was mixed by then. The old Madnesss song of Baggy trousers where it was mentioned back of the head with a plastic cup - i believe came from his time at QK. We had a fantastic head of year- Turkish fella name of Fuad Emin - top bloke. Met him a few years later after leaving said school and he was now a Barrister. Happy days...
