TONIGHTS GAME V HARTLEPOOL UTD
at 08:17 25 Sep 2024

Apparently Sassi could be out for six weeks, so Ferguson can establish himself in the defence.

Good result tonight, it also allowed us to give game time to Ayinde and Westley to allow them to get the experience they need.

Did Gilmour's injury look serious?

I think the squad we have are good enough for the playoffs and if we are sort out the mistakes you never know what may happen, but it will be a tight league this year.

Watching the highlights, the first goal we conceded was poor, why did the defender not just clear it,instead of juggling on his thigh and heading it weakly a few yards, straight to McCallum and it was the same with the penalty, while did Robson try passing it out to a defender surrounded by Eastleigh players, who was forced to commit a foul, instead of clearing straight down field in the first place. The second and third goals were down to poor defenders, the long throw, no one seemed to jumped to challenge for the ball. All mistakes that could be avoided.

I have just listen to McNulty, he said we should have had a number of penalties, but the officials were poor and refuse to give them, despite being obvious penalties, apparently he got a yellow for telling them so.

Sassi got a muscle knock today, which needs monitoring, but Ferguson was ill on Friday and could not travel, hopefully he will be okay for Tuesday and Henry has a minor muscle tear and is likely to miss the next two weeks.

Yet when Henderson plays he can have a big influence on the teams performance, again like many people have indicated, McNulty team selection, tactics and subs can be baffling. McNulty is still an inexperienced manager and will make mistakes, but his belief in possession football is a concern and yes, he as a big squad, but he needs learn to pick his best starting eleven and bench.

We need a win on Tuesday at Hartlepool to get back on track.

I notice that Henry and Ferguson was missing from the squad today, I wonder why.

I will be interested to see what McNulty says.

According to the Oldham fans site, a number of teams opted out of the competition including York, Southend, Solihull and Hartlepool according to their site. Oldhams fans think it is a distraction to their promotion hopes.

I would put out many of the youth team and squad not getting game time, rather then the first team for this pointless competition.

Hopefully McNulty will recognise what went right and wrong yesterday, and seek to address them before two difficult games away at Eastleigh and Hartlepool.

In respect to Ayinde, he has a lot potential, but would it not be better for to be introduced as a sub to gain the experience needed, it can be a big step from youth to more senior football. Yesterday as shown how competitive this league is going to be season with Gateshead conceding 7 at Dagenham and if we can points over the next three games, we can still be challenging for the top spot this season.

It is typical Rochdale, get a bigger gate and the chance to go top, and we bugger it up.

We had a lot of possession and could have sneaked a second near the second, when Solihull sat so far back, they could have been in the Pearl Street End, but yesterday we seemed to have returned to last seasons play book to some extent in the passing it across the back four. Also I thought the change in formation was a factor, in that three upfront in Mitchell, Rodney and Ayinde, made our midfielder weaker, in that Henry, McBride and Burger provide the energy we seemed to lack yesterday and only seemed to get, when Henry and Burger came on.

I hope that you lad Westley is okay, but will the two week rule automatically apply to the Westley due it being an head injury for safety reasons.

TONIGHTS GAME V MAIDENHEAD UTD

I agree, but it will take time, the taking of the goldbond inhouse at long last and encouraging the people of the town to sign up it, will hopefully generate more income. Also the idea of away showing games in the Ratcliffe, which I believe the Aldershot game was well attended and I would be interested on the income generated. If it was a success, it may be a good idea going forward, considering that most of our away games are based around London. Yes the club will need to look at the dining experience for those hiring a box and in respect to attendances, if we can keep on winning and playing attractive football, hopefully the fans will return, but we can help by getting the message to the good people of Rochdale about the upturn in the clubs fortunes.

The Ogdens have a three plan to get us back into the football league, it will take time to improve all aspects of the club to generate further income sources. We should be grateful we have a club to support and that is thanks to Ogdens, sometimes I wonder at times, if some fans look for issues to be pessimistic about. Yes, I want the club to successful and increase gates, but it may time and being successful on the pitch, will see fans return after many years of dire football and again, we must be grateful to the Ogdens for investing in the player budget by increasing it.

For the first time in years I am more optimistic and the fact we got just short of 2300 home fans for a midweek game on Tuesday, when England was on tv, must be a positive sign, especially when Barnet only got around 900 for their home game.

We played well and showed the potential the squad as this season, but I thought we sat back at 3 up and allowed Maidenhead to not only score, but threaten to score more. I think we must give credit to Maidenhead, they looked better then any side that have visited Spotland this season.

However we showed the character to hold on and get the three points, which may not have occurred last season, the squad this season as so far created a buzz among the fans, that as been missing for some time.

A question posed on the radio was and this applies to Paul Waugh, 'will the Labour MP's claim for heating costs whilst sitting in the commons, while voting to end pensioners fuel winter allowance'. This despite being paid around £90,000 a year as an MP.

Will the hard shoulder not be covered by camera's, so the police can send them notification of potential fines and points awarded to their driving?

I didn't realise he had dropped Kelly, with seven subs, common sense says have a keeper on the bench, McNulty baffles me sometimes with his team selection, like at York, when he dropped Beckwith for Armstrong. I feel sorry for McBride, Ferguson and Henry who all played well last week.

Hopefully it will work out well and we will sneak a win.

Sir Peter makes his debut

Yesterday was one of the best games I have seen at Spotland for some time, we dominated the game from start to finish. It shows Sir Peter and the fans what the potential the team as this season and look more then capable of getting a playoff spot.

I also like the new white away top.

Twisted Mule Brewery and Taphouse - Spotland Bridge Mill
at 16:40 30 Aug 2024

I think he means if you enjoy a pint of real ale or similar alternative beers the Ratcliffe is not really the place to visit, what I find strange is that JW Lees do some very good seasonal real ale beers, but they don't seem to be sold at the Ratcliffe. So before the Twisted Mule opened, the only alternative near the ground prior to the opening Twisted Mule Opening up was the Cemetery Hotel, especially since it was taken over by the Flying Horse owners.

May I ask is the Ratcliffe open in the evenings during the week or just on match days or weekends?
