He's probably got lots to learn and get up to speed with, but it was nice to see a QPR CM get in the box and tuck one away for a change.

If he carries on like this then what a bargain he could turn out to be!

Tonight's Draw - Ball Number 20

It'll be on sky sports later (I think they said 10:15pm). When I was flicking through the channels they were just doing some sort of weird pre draw to decide whether the prem teams in Europe play at home or away I think! Any excuse to make something simple more complicated

Contain Luton's Alfie Doughty

He was very good. He was a having a bit of banter with fans in the loft in the lead up and aftermath of their equaliser which I thought was pretty funny. Looked like a bit of a wally giving it the biggun after he scored his pen only to get done 4-1 though!

I hope there's a player there, but it's way too early to say one way or the other really after so little playing time. My early thoughts based on going to the game tonight and seeing the Plymouth match on tv the other day is that he's got a good first touch and seems to have good awareness, but I thought he struggled a bit to hold it up at times against a very physical Luton team and he's unlikely to do anyone for pace, so he's going to need a particular type of ball played into him either near to or inside the box from midfield, so he can bring others into it like he did for the first goal tonight otherwise he'll be very easy to isolate. I think he looked more effective with a big man (Frey) alongside him against Plymouth, so that might be one way we can play to his strengths. Or maybe Chair cutting in and getting closer to him and passing into his feet might be another way. There's so many new attacking players in the side though that its just going to take time for them to understand the movement patterns and triggers that Marti wants. Early days.

I really like the look of him. He was one of the only positives from that 2nd half last night. He didn't stop running. Obviously needs to work on the final ptoduct, but definitely looks like he could develop into a decent Championship player. I think we should keep him until Jan and then see what happens, as it's probably going to take Saito a while to adapt to playing in England and its good to have options in case of injuries and suspensions.

Latest Sky picks/horror show

Surely we've reached the stage where the '3pm Blackout' serves almost zero purpose now? Attendances for all of the Saturday games will surely be lower than if they were on at 3pm. What I don't know or understand though is if it didn't exist, would Sky still pick these ridiculous kick off times anyway?

tottenham frendly roll call....
at 11:21 18 Jul 2024

4 from me, although that's only because my Spurs supporting cousin and his wife are very keen to go, as this is one of his very few chances to see his side play live this season at a 'reasonable price' (his words not mine!). A sad state of affairs! Happy to be going down to Loftus Rd again though to see some football and have a couple of beers. Hopefully the weather stays good!

I'll miss Sinclair he was pretty exciting to watch and was a bit of a character which is a bit unusual in football these days, I loved that interview he gave after he scored his first goal for us against Cardiff last season. Although if he wants to get better, he's probably going to have to channel all that emotion he openly shows on the pitch which was well over the top at times! I always wonder had we been more in stable state for the past two seasons and been able to loan him out to a League One or Two team for a full season how much further along with his development could he have been? I guess we'll never know. Also, slightly worried that if Bristol City see him as a 2 million pound player, then he could actually be very good in the future, as they have an excellent track record at spotting and developing talented young players. From our side though, if he wont sign a new deal and we're getting 2 mil for a guy who (as yet) has very little final product in his game and one year left, then its a no brainer and gives some budget to get another young winger/striker in. Nice to see us finally getting a bit wiser to players/agents who are difficult to deal with on contract negotiation.

They forgot to include all the cash they've used as fuel to keep this tower burning in recent years. That's got to be one of the strangest new club badges I've seen! Looks like a logo North Korea would come up with for a very basic Disney World fake theme park.

Seems a bit stupid to extend his contract by 3 years in Dec, only to sack him 5 months later! He didn't miss out on playoffs by too much and probably deserved another summer to build on what they did in his first full season. I think Rosenior will do well somewhere given the chance though. He seems like a good coach who stays level headed and he's only in his late 30s still.

A great pro and a big character just wish we had him when he was younger. Best of luck to him! Wants to move to a club in the Midlands to be closer to where he lives....I know a League One bound club in that part of the world who might go for it Uncs!

Better than Crystal Palace 6-0
at 10:18 2 May 2024

The Leeds game was really good but that Palace one was all sorts of crazy. I was there that day (think I was about 15) and just watched the highlights back. Totally forgot about that Chinese lad getting sent off for pushing the ref and all of those balloons on the pitch! I clearly remember Palace fans putting up a massive sign stating 'A iceberg sank the Titanic, don't let a Goldberg sink the Palace' they must been up all night thinking of that one

The LFW Confession Box
at 10:40 29 Apr 2024

The early season form and style of football was so demoralising I 100% thought we were down by October. Around that time it was a clusterf*ck of poor management (on and off the field), bad refereeing decisions like the Swansea home match where he handled it into the goal and one or two injuries in key positions, I just thought there's just no chance here. Then Marti came in and had the first new manager bounce in QPR history (sort of!), but a large part of me still thought, at least it wont look embarrassing when we go down now, he's installed some fight and something for us to get behind and build on from League One (faint hope 80% thought we were going down). Our dreadful Christmas/New Year period (do we ever do well at Christmas?) pushed me back to 90% going down again. The Millwall win gave me slight hope but the performance against Huddersfield quickly took it away again, I was convinced we'd need to win that, so I still didn't really think it was on. But then the January window closed and we signed three players (Frey, Anderson & Hodge) who I hadn't heard of and Issac Haydn who I thought was a really good player from what I remember of him. After watching a few youtube clips of goals Anderson and Frey had scored in the Danish and Swiss prem and reading a few references on Hodge, a little bit of blind hope crept in. Maybe they'll be amazing?! Maybe we'll go on a run?! Cant be any worse that what we've got! So I think I started to think maybe something could happen after we beat Blackburn away and Hodge scored the winner with the sort of calm finish we'd been lacking for ages (60-70% going down still). Side topic what happened to Joe Hodge?! scored a crucial goal on debut, was part of the Stoke non performance and was never really seen again due to the improving form of others but I'll always remember his goal as one of the turning points for me. Anyway after Blackburn (Stoke aside) we got a lot better and the new players had an impact (Frey against Norwich) Anderson (Norwich & Bristol) and Haydn was just very good consistently around that time. But like many others have said the Leicester win was the one that pretty much tipped the scales to 50/50 for me. Followed by the brilliant WBA performance. It was the Dunne goal that really had me believing though, as Clive said that was 'the moment' we'd been looking for that was one of the best moments id seen in ages at Loftus road and paved the way to survival (with one or two twists along the way!). Confession over.

If we can sell for a decent price (Although his on going legal problems may change what we can get possibly now) then I think we should sell. There was a Turkish club reportedly interested in him in Jan wasnt there? Maybe they'll come in again in the summer. With the way things have gone in their league recently an assault charge on his CV may actually increase his value!
