Barton to be discussed
at 21:33 14 May 2012

It puts Bartons actions into perspective if you think about the way Derry left the pitch against ManU. He had done nothing wrong, there was a player lying on the floor within kicking distance who had just cheated and got him sent off in what is probably the highlight of his career so far. And yet, he still had the professionalism and basic common decency to accept an unjust situation and not make himself or QPR look like complete tools.

If any of the mans attitude can be passed on to our younger players (or even some of the more established ones) it will be a credit to the club.

If it was 3 points for a red we'd be relegated.

The Cisse jigsaw piece
at 00:31 13 Apr 2012

Cisse is a highly paid professional. He needs to be able to do the job asked of him within reason. Personally I wouldn't change the system and I would start with Bobby and see how things go until half time. I am quite convinced that Cisse has the skills to play the lone striker and with the way Mackie is powering past defenders on the edge of the box and teeing people up at the moment he could have a field day, especially against defenders Zamora has been pulling around for a while.

Taarabt

He was only overshadowed on Wednesday by a huge upswing in the overall performance of the team, If he plays next season like he has in the second half of this one we can stick another 5 million on that figure and no-one will be quibbling about the asking price.

It's so heartning to see a player improving in our set up rather than maintaing their level. It's not something I've witnessed much. An example would be how much Routledges' game had improved after going to Newcasle.

He hasn't quite made up for his previous performances yet in my opinion, not to mention the other turmoil from his signing, but if he continues to do what he is doing in the last couple of matches he will soon be up there. All I want is for him to have his mind on the job and play the best he can. No different to what I ask for in any other player.

Three nil victory not good enough for some
at 01:45 12 Apr 2012

Zamora was not playing in a glory role today. From what I saw he was strong and held up the ball when it went long and annoyed a centre back when the build up was slower. He was fouled a lot probably should have got a couple more set pieces from that but I don't think he was poor at all.

Realistically he has a season and a bit in him playing wise for us, what with him being a couple of months older than myself. That said I would love him to stay on after that. He reminds me of Bircham and Wardley in his attitude and is a massive, massive credit to the club.

I have no idea how anyone could think that. As I have mentioned elsewhere this has been my favourite match this season and I would have loved to have been there. I don't really know why anyone could have a go about about Zamora unless they think skying one shot makes you a useless player. Also if they thought we defended badly today where were they two months ago?

Welcome by the way.

How good is Diakite?
at 00:38 12 Apr 2012

I'm just hoping first impressions count for as much as people say because if poeple don't think he is a stud happy psychopath we will just have to make a few million quid out of him (as long as we don't go down). He seems to be enjoying himself and long may that continue.

Its Just Like Watching Paint Dry
at 00:18 12 Apr 2012

It seems like the tactic of having two men bear down on their wide players as soon as they recieve the ball is enough to stifle Swansea. If they could have switched play quickly we could have been in trouble, but they seemed confused by having a coulple of players within a metre or so of them after a second or two and either kicked the ball off a player for a throw in or punted it forward and gave the ball to us.

In the second half they didn't even try those tactics and conceded the ball even more. I don't actually mind Swansea but they need to adjust their game because they have very little else.

We were patient, but like a stalking lion, we were constantly moving forward towards our goal with purpose and little wasted effort. This has been my favourite match to watch all season, my second favourite being Wolves where I first thought "Blimey we are a Premiership team". We have had some fun results this season but the games themselves were tense affairs that I only enjoyed after the whistle had blown.

I'd have felt a lot better without the Wigan result. But then another part of my brain, still angry from the weekend, says Man U had what was coming to them.

Yep. It's one of the few times this year I haven't automatically felt like we were in trouble as soon as a team got some possesion in our half.

Barton MOM Tonight
at 22:54 11 Apr 2012

I think Clint Hill's contribution was the most important. Absolute, no nonsense, solid defending. It's hard because I think the full backs were also dramatically improved, Taarabt and especially Diakite were also outstanding. I'm just proud of our team tonight.

The Basics
at 22:22 11 Apr 2012

For me this game was all about our dramtic improvement at the basics of footbll. An improvement I wouldn't have even thought possible until the Arsenal game. How many times did we get two players tight on a Swansea player on the wing, thus stifling their little triangles? We gave the ball away so much less around the half way line that I can't believe they never thought of doing it before. But the biggest improvement we have made over the last few games is playing Hill in the centre.

He just seems to think that blocking shots, making tackles, and being strong in the air is enough to be a Premiership footballer. What an arrogant man! I watched this on a stream so I can't talk about his positioning all game but I am pretty sure he was directly responsible for stopping two near sure fire goals. If you are in any doubt he was my man of the match despite some other excellent performances.

My absolute favourite thing about this game though, was the constant attitude of trying to score goals. We were ripping them a new one right up until the final whistle. We had a bit of a dodgy decision for the Mackie goal but after reading some of the comments from Swansea fans about Derry's sending off I find it hard to be too sympathetic. Honourable mentions go to all the players, the manager and especially the crowd who soundeed immense.

Best we could hope for
at 02:25 11 Apr 2012

Hello Everyone. Long time lurker first time poster and all that.

Never being one to fly in the face of controversy I think the Man Utd result was the best outcome we could have hoped for. The injustice of it all will, hopefully, you can never tell with QPR, put the fire in the bellies of the players and supporters that only all odds being against you, but still knowing your fate is in your own hands can bring. Let's be honest about the whole thing, I think we would have probably lost by the same margin had we been at full strength the entire game and we wouldn't have had the added impetous this extra grievence gave us.

Even if the players don't all care about QPR as much as us supporters I sincerely hope they respect Derry as a colleague and will want to give 100% as a show to us that they feel the same way we do. Which brings me on to Derry himself. I really think that him being suspended might just force our hand to play a little more positively against Swansea. A Barton, Diakite central midfield sounds pretty formidible on paper, especially with Diakite "enforcing" himself slightly higher up. Much as he has surprised me in the last few games, I am not sure that Derry is up to a Sunday Wednesday schedule for 90 minutes each at his tempo.

As an aside I watched this match in the home end with a Man U supproting mate (Moss Side born and bred!), and the arrogance of the Man U fans was annoying. The concensus was that they didn't need the penalty to beat us and because they won 2-0 they would have won anyway. They are probably right but whenever I meet away fans I will respect their team if I feel they played well, but Man U fans seem to be in a mindset of if they didn't win comprehensively Man U played badly and the other teams performance is irrelavent. I hate Man U as a team a bit. I hate their fans with a passion.

Anyway enough of me my favourite cheese is Cheshire or the pseudo cheese Primula.

EDIT: Oh ffs. I have just read Clives match preview and it looks like I am not flying in the face of controversy at all. Oh well.
