Burgers
at 13:16 29 Nov 2024

Took the family to Christophers in Covent Garden last week for my sons birthday.

I had the Wagu burger.
Hands down the worst burger I've ever had, served to me by miserable unsmiling staff.
Brioche bun, dry burger, a leaf of lettuce, 2 thin slices of tomato, a blob of Mayo.
£26 ta.

And chips were £6 extra and weren't served with the burger, had to wait for them to come out after. And we had to ask for sauce, salt and pepper.
Then they had the cheek to try and add 13.5% 'discretionary service charge' on the bill.
I cant write on the forum what I said to the unsmiling server, but i didn't pay it.

Never go there.

Wireless Earphones Help, Please
at 12:28 1 Nov 2024

I have some Sennheiser Momentum 3 earbuds, they are pretty good and fairly easy to set up. I have found they ache a bit after a long period of having them in. Its all about finding the right fit with the wide range of earpiece buds and supports. £189 when I bought them, and not sure if they have justified that expense.
For the gym I have a pair of Soundcore A1 earbuds and these are brilliant. Fitted perfect straight out the box, great sound, massive battery life and £40 from Amazon! Cannot praise these enough.
Just treated myself to some over the ear cans, Bose Quiet Comfort Ultra headphones. Stunning sound and noise cancelling. Not used them for long periods yet but have a 10 hour flight coming up next week which is the test. Heavy on price though £450, but 5 star rating by What HiFi. If you can stretch to these, go for it.

Trick is setting your budget and making sure you find the right fit.

Nearest pub to where you live
at 10:16 6 Jun 2024

Oh yeah, it’s a thing:
Wikipedia described:
The town has two main focal points: Lower Sunbury (known locally as Sunbury Village) is the older part, adjoining the river.
Sunbury Common (known locally as Sunbury Cross) is to the north and surrounds the railway station and the London end of the M3 motorway.
Lower Sunbury contains most of the town's parks, pubs and listed buildings, whereas Sunbury Common is more urban and includes offices and hotels. Lower Sunbury holds an annual fair and regatta each August.

I’ve just bought Savage Storm, got delivered yesterday, looking forward to reading it.
My grandad was in the Salerno landings and involved in the battle for Montecassino where he was injured and captured by the Germans.
He was taken by the Germans to Rome where they operated on him and removed loads of shrapnel and spent the rest of the war in a POW camp.
That entire generation were made different to us, never will there be the like again.

I live in Lower Sunbury.
Have the Admiral Hawke next door but one to me, just been done up and is ok.
Three Fishes is 100 yards away, it’s a bit of a dive and needs major TLC.
Magpie, Phoenix, The Flower Pot and White Horse are all within 5 minutes walk and all nice enough pubs, the former 2 are on the river so great in the summer. But they are all getting expensive and won’t be far off £7 a pint soon I fear.
Conservative Club is opposite where we live and is cheap and has loads of screens and often shows QPR when we are on sky so a bonus. Cruzcampo is £4.40 a pint!

Kind of spoilt for choice really.

I was going to mention this earlier.
I’ve noticed he always seems to have a snide dig at QPR or some smart arse comment to make about either the club or the fans.
What the story behind his obvious dislike for us? I know he’s a millwall fan but surely it goes deeper than that?

Now Kate Middleton has cancer!
at 11:21 23 Mar 2024

Her diagnosis sounds similar to my wife 4 years ago during lockdown.
She had major abdominal surgery and we found out later it was a tumour blocking her bowel. Once removed, cancer was gone, but they put her on 3 months of chemotherapy as a precautionary measure.
Brutal process but given the option, she didn’t think twice.
Positive mindset and today she is as fit and well. Scary times for us though.

I wish Kate and family all the best and hope that they are left alone to deal with this tough recovery process ahead.
Unfortunately I don’t think that will happen, and the press and media will be looking for any angle. Paparazzi will be out in force trying to get the vital pictures. And then there’s the internet where there are no rules and anyone is fair game to the keyboard warriors.

Sending my love and best to anyone who is suffering form this disease x

Got a sneaky feeling we are going to get something from this game. Don’t know why, maybe it’s their arrogance and perhaps they think this will be a rollover for them.
1-2 to QPR my gut.

I’ll post again Saturday evening to eat humble pie after getting a tonking 😂

Car Insurance
at 15:27 18 Feb 2024

This in a nutshell.

Renewed mine in December and it had doubled. No claims, ok I had 3 points and I drive an Audi S5, but double!!
I was told it’s the prices of parts and lead times, it’s easier for them to write off a car even with minor damage than repair.
Was also told it’s the increase of cost of repairing electric cars. I explained that i don’t drive and electric car but that’s irrelevant.

In short it’s the insurance companies jumping on the inflation bandwagon and there is absolutely f all you can do about it.

Taken ill and in hospital the day the press say he’s getting the sack.
Always seems a gentleman in a vicious industry.
Lives near where my wife works in Richmond and she often sees him. Doesn’t know him but he always says hello.

Roy mate, retire and enjoy the rest of your days without the stress of football management.

Weakened beer….
at 10:32 23 Sep 2023

They started selling that in my local, The Flower Pot in Lower Sunbury. £6.50 a pint but it’s not bad.
Doubt it’s Spanish though, but like Madri that is marketed as from Madrid but it’s actually brewed and packaged in Tadcaster!
Went to a pub in Notting Hill the other week pre Rangers and we were paying 7:50 a pint, but they only were selling lesser known craft stuff. £15 a round of 2 drinks is hard to take.

Looking to upgrade the amp and cd to a Naim 5si and Marantz 6007 respectively but will do some listening tests at Sevenoaks Sounds first.
Would be interested if anyone has the Naim amp paired with B&W’s
