You have to go to Millwall away once for the badge of honour.

After that it is not normal for human beings to be treated like cattle let alone paying for the privilege.

They will let you go the other way if you want to, quite a few walked back last time we played them whilst the rest of us queued for an hour

thats not what happened to me last time, forced onto train i didnt want to be on and didnt have a ticket for after being penned in for god knows howw long

although i will add that this probably was caused by a few rangers leaving early and trying to force open the between the home and away ends.

Wet to the 2-2 draw in Cardiff a few years ago. We were heading back to Bristol on a train to get a flight. Coppers at the station were insisting we got on the London train. Took us a good while to convince them we didn't need to go to London

I don't see why anyone needs to be penned in. We know they'll keep the gates closed for 20 minutes or so, so just stay in the stand. No need to clamber downstairs only to be standing around getting squashed for 20 mins, unless you like that sort of thing!

There is no guarantee of that. In previous times they have herded everyone onto the train, including people who had parked their cars near the away end. At London Bridge they herded everyone straight onto the Northern Line in one direction, irrespective of where you wanted to go. You were not allowed onto other trains at London Bridge, you were not allowed out. You were not allowed on the Jubilee Line.

It is frankly outrageous.

Oh, and having managed to "escape" and get back to Lewisham from London Bridge, I later heard that people who tried to board other trains back to where they wanted to go at London Bridge had been arrested. I don't have any personal proof of that, and it would be interesting to see what they were charged with, but several fellow Rs were talking about it at the next home game.

Leeds @ London bridge station. A case of mistaken identity for a police dog:

O got threatened with arrest because I didn't want to go to the Northern Line on the way home from the night game a few seasons back. Didn't even what to go to London Bridge as I now live a few stops in other direction.

So I can easily imagine the police did pull this. As it happened I saw a gap and legged it through.

Do the police have the legal right to obstruct people in this way? Seems an abuse to me.

I think there are certain laws regarding footbal fans on public transport but if you're not wearing colours, just say you're not a football fan.
I did this a few years ago. I said I don't even like football and that I preferred MotoGP (pick another sport you know about!) etc and that I just happened to get caught up in the crowd. I was polite, didn't get sarky or aggrevated and they let me through.

Last time I went there I picked up a flesh wound (this sounds hard but it was more of a bump on the head) from some miscellaneous object thrown over the fence outside. It turned out to be part of the fence itself that was trying to ripped down by a bunch of cannibalistic looking creatures on the other side. It was like being an extra in a Doctor Who episode.

Just a question, if their support is so intolerable, why doesn't the FA do something about it?

Police will always take the line of least resistance, so manage < 3,000 rather than deal with 15k.

If their crowd behaviour is so bad, and I must admit I don't know so I'm generally going on common assumption here, why the f*ck doesn't the FA do a few empty home venues?

They've been 'trying' for years. I used to live in Lewisham for a couple of years and actually went to the opening of the New Den vs Sporting Lisbon. They were as neanderthal then as they are now. Nothing has changed.

I had an argument the other day with a 'wall fan on another forum 'cos he's tired of away fans going on about it all the time. "Do something about it then, don't whinge about about what away fans say, sort out your OWN problems" I replied to that effect. I've not heard back.

They'd struggle this weekend; Northern Line is not working.

Not living in London I've had this happen to me several times as well, a real struggle to get plod to understand that not everyone is going to the smoke!

Agree that it's outrageous; surely can't be legal?

Tried this (or a form of it in the circumstances). Explained to the police at the stadium that I lived in Lewisham and didn't want to go to London Bridge. They said everyone had to. Didn't complain as I could pick up a direct train to Lewisham from there. When the train got to London Bridge, we were escorted to the barriers, then on the main concourse there were rows of police chanelling us straight to the stairs. I explained to one of the officers, calmly and politely, that I needed to get onto another overground train and not get on the tube. He was very polite and quite sympathetic, but completely adamant that this was not allowed. I got the impression that it had been decided at a high level and the police actually taking the action had no leeway. I went down the stairs and when the police at the bottom weren't looking I ducked out of the crowd and went back up the parallel staircase. I later heard that other fans who had been seen doing this had been arrested.

I understand that the police are there to keep order etc. But the way these sweeping powers can affect innocent people trying to go about ordinary, lawful business can be disgraceful. That pregnant woman not allowed to leave a kettled crowd at a demonstration to use the toilet is a prime example.

I am still Steve but no longer in Dagenham.

So plod can justify their overtime. They hold you in for 45 minutes, tempers get frayed, therefore they label all away fans as problematic justifying their presence at EVERY game in large numbers. Its probably the same if Exeter played there.

if clubs can't take both tiers without fear or intimidation, why open the ground?
the ground was built and agreed under league and council rules and regs, and i assume the football authorities, with away fans given 2 tiers, segregated etc
so if a top club like qpr can't safely take both, why endorse their licence?
millwall get away with so much disorder..why? other clusb like luton got ferked for less!
