" Medy Elito's winning goal in the third minute of stoppage-time gave Dagenham & Redbridge a 2-1 victory.
Andrew Tutte had put Dale in front in the 72nd minute before Abu Ogogo levelled three minutes later.
Coleman cut a frustrated figure after he presided over a third straight defeat.
He said: "It's a blow for us, of course. We'd worked on one or two things in training but unfortunately some of the players just didn't carry the necessary instructions out when it came to match day.
"That's been happening just a little too often lately and it's something we really need to try and drum into them.
"It's going to be a difficult run-in to the end of the season.
"Our fans have seen some decent stuff at times this season, but it's got to get better.
"Somehow we seemed to be missing that cutting edge and when you're in a situation such as ours we need to pick it up.
"There's been talk of a push for the play-offs but on this evidence we've got no chance."

Away from home our system is ok, we've seen that from the results we've got but at home, the same system tends to invite pressure. I'm not picking on Cavanagh, it's purely because of the position he plays, he plays almost the entire game in his own half which means we struggle to get the ball forward as the lack of width means we pretty much have to play through the middle and that's why we rarely score tap ins and a lot of our goals are from distance. That's how I see it anyway. Without wanting to keep referring back to the Hill days, he did the same thing but with a bit more width when he had BBM playing the holding midfield role and we only really saw a big change in results when he took BBM out and put Matt Done in the hole behind the forwards. I reckon if you brought in a right winger, stick Grant out left and Gornell up front and put Grimes in that hole it might work better than it does now. There again I might be talking bo!!ocks.

he could have tried putterill in the wide role to play that formation or signed mcconville as he had planned (not that mcconville was good enough).

having just let the only naturel wide player in putterill go he is evidently going to stick with this narrow formation.

the only way to have any hope making his current system work is by bringing in a quality left back and experienced centre back to aid bennet and rafferty and to give lillis a good kick up the arse.

Poll: Would you have Keith Hill back?

Don't agree with regards the Putterill comment. I think if he'd been able to stay fit at any point during his stay, he'd have been kept on. He couldn't stay fit, looked overweight and had the stamina of an old man and had to be let go.

Also think that Bobby Grant is a natural wide man as he's played most of his career as a left winger, he's just superb at playing off the striker as well. McConville would almost certainly have been signed if the management had thought he was good enough but both obviously thought, as we all did, that he'd lost his way and wasn't going to add anything to our side.

He does need to sign a wide man in my view but whether he will or not remains to be seen.

If I hadn't seen such riches, I could live with being poor

was it the management or the directors who blocked the mcconville transfer?

I'd be amazed if the board blocked any transfer that was within the budget. If the management thought a particular player would improve the squad, the board wouldn't block it.

Right back is the position we really need strengthening! Pearson played there early season and didn't look good enough. Rafferty has played there and is a liability in that he is a sending off waiting to happen every game because he dives in all the time. Phil Edwards has played there and not done great because he isn't a right back. Bennett has played there, had one decent game then got shredded at Burton.

Kevin McIntrye is solid if unspectacular but it's the right hand side that badly needs sorting for me.

Bennett looks good for the fans because he will have a run out of defence every now and then but his decision making is atrocious. Phil Edwards is much more steady which is what we need at the minute. Bennett and Rafferty may well become decent players but not yet ready to be in the same team together.

If only we had a natural rightback who'd played in that position most of his career available to Coleman!

I was amazed he didn't play there on Saturday and BBM in midfield with Kennedy and Tutte.

Oh the irony eh. Cavanagh had a good game in central midfield on Saturday but as soon as he went to right back he looked poor. He was skinned a couple of times and started to give the ball away. You would have thought he was a midfielder playing in an unfamiliar position on that showing!
