First time poster but reading for years.Had to post when i heard about Dave Sexton, was only 8 when we finished runners up to liverpool but went to every home game that season and it was some off the best football i've seen,Sexton is a Qpr legend and we so nearly beat the big boys that year.RIP.

He is my wife's Uncle, I heard the very sad news today about 12 noon. have to say he was a true gentleman, never had a bad word to say about anyone and I always probed him. He always asked me about the R's. would imagine it will be a big & very sad funeral / Cremation.

I have a fleeting memory of my childhood of walking across spikes bridge park in southall and saying to my dad " dad, have we ever won the league?" and him saying very matter of fact " no, but we came second this year" and me carrying on as if that was normal. I started going in 1977 so just at the end of his spell, and to be fair, I was 7, so don't remember much about it. I broke the news to my dad today and all he said was "he was a bloody good manager, him." sad news |  | | |
