KP 09:08 - Aug 15 with 2297 views | Charlie1 | Without doubt, a great talent and puts bums on seats. He's a joy to watch and whenever he enters the field of play, a feeling of anticipation buzzes around the ground. But, he's really screwed up on this. He is a flawed genius with some severe personality issues or perhaps, plain arrogance. I don't know having never met / worked with the guy but Bresnan and Strauss comments say it all. ECB is right on this one. But it'll cost us our number one spot I fear....... Still you never know, may fire the likes of Broad and co up!

KP on 14:14 - Aug 15 with 693 views | daveB | they'll be mad not to want him back, for someone who is not "part of the team" he didn't do too badly in the last test saving the team from losing with a superb innings and a few wickets with the ball. It seems it's ok for other players to have a laugh and a joke about other players, Swann did an entire video diary taking the piss during the Ashes which was very funny but if you are going to ban KP for sending joke texts about players then where do you draw the line. I'm also not sure what happened to innocent until proven guilty, it worked for John Terry. The people who got the texts think it's a fuss over nothing, a fella who hates him in Smith thinks it's been blown out of proportion but we still use him as a scapegoat. It all goes back to the row over him missing a one day series which is Flowers own fault for letting other players miss games in the past so they can have a rest, fine for Anderson, Broad etc to miss games but when Pieterson wanted to miss a game all hell broke loose.

1. It wasn't joke texts. It was derogatory texts undermining captain and team 2. He's admitted it and apologised and no one is sueing the paper who made the original claim. 3. It's not just about the texts. Straw, camel and back. There's clearly been dressing room unrest involving him...none of us know what's gone on. This one went public 4. He was trying the hold the ECB to ransom demanding to play when he wanted, based on IPL commitments not when he was contracted to. It's different to resting players where the ECB agree to that. He thought, being KP, he could get away with it. The ECB have effectively called his bluff. Given this and the 3 points above, they've dropped him. Clear enough?? Normally you're a reasoned bloke Dave but I think you're completely misunderstanding and misrepresenting the whole issue here. He's behaved like a pr*ck on a number of issues recently and the ECB have had enough and dropped him. I thin they've got it right. The Twitter/Broad link is a complete non-sequitar that only Piers Morgan has the cheek to argue. (see previous post for explanation - I'm not rewriting it)
KP on 14:43 - Aug 15 with 668 views | daveB | what were in the texts then that was so bad and upsetting? I just fail to see why it's ok for Swann to have a pop at KP in his book but not ok for KP to send a private text message to someone about a fellow player. It's clear double standards, no other player would be banned for this. The real reason he's banned is for saying he might quit after this test which put noses out of joint and that really was stupid on KP's part.

Maybe you have answered your own question.Swann did it in a book for all to see, KP did it in a sneaky way, got found out and then apologised. Personally, although i agree a great cricketer, maybe we can focus now on the team and not just one player...As you quite clearly state, we are only no 1 thanks to him...maybe its about time we got a decent fast bowler who tops the averages a decent spinner, an opener and a wicket keeper than can bat.Maybe then we can think about competing with the rest of the world without MR KP
KP on 16:01 - Aug 15 with 647 views | daveB | we're not number one only due to him but he does play a big part, he was certainly the difference last weekend. All seems a witch hunt to me, he's been banned over a text message yet it's fine to go out in the open and write a book slating someone, both sides need to grow up imo

I'm sure we will find out sooner or later. It is a shame because he is such a good player and certainly we are a better team with him in rather than out. It does seem very strange to me, like i say, with the history of feuding between the South Africans and Kp over the years, as to why all of a sudden , he is texting them, slating the players that "like" him.... That said , still looking forward to Thursday

Is this the same teammate who plays for South Africa? If Adel started texting the Spurs lads before a QPR V Spurs game, slating Barton/Cisse etc, i'm sure that QPR fans would mind that much either !
KP on 17:08 - Aug 15 with 609 views | daveB | you see plenty of times when players play against mates or old clubs they are chatting before games, Cisse and Nasri were hugging and chatting in the tunnel before the city game last season, Barton was similar when we played the Geordies at home and Walker was chatting with Taarabt before and during both Spurs games. makes no odds really unless they are giving away team tactics or something that affects the game it wouldn't bother me.

Baz - Swann’s comments about him not being a natural leader, were written in his book, which was out in the open for all to read.....For this he received a fine by the ECB, Later that year...KP responded.. Things are absolutely fine,” said Pietersen, who had a brief and unhappy stint as England captain before he and coach Peter Moores left their roles in January 2009. “It was Swanny, Swanny likes to talk. “It’s not a clever book in the middle of your career, but it’s not affecting anything that’s going on in the team for sure. Really??? Before this texting came to light, there were reports of un rest in the team.Holding goes on to say that KP is unmanageable.. Many a time i have watched an England match, seen KP get his half century/centurt and then got out as cheap as chips. Think this one has been brewing for some time. Some will agree , some not!

Dave, thats not what i meant...sorry. Even at the low standard that i played banter is banter.....but i never went into a game with a group of players, playing against another team, who i had shared information of a delicate measure with... I cannot imagine Adel talking to Spuds players last year saying...yeah Barton is a twot...Paddy does keep droppoung the ball...right bunch of wonkers i play with !!...Watch out for SWP....we are playing in a dwarf role this week... KP on 17:26 - Aug 15 with 591 views | daveB | i reckon players do that ll the time slate team mates and managers to old mates, happens all the time and in every business, our friday drinks at work usually ends up with a bitching session about management.

KP on 13:41 - Aug 15 by R_from_afar | Lance Armstrong's autobigraphy was "It's not about the bike". At this rate. KP's will be called: "It's not about the cricket". Has he been hanging out with Barton? Actually, imagine if our Joey did play cricket at a high level. Can you imagine what his appeals - and reaction to the umpire's decision - would be like when he was bowling? RFA |
Armstrong's autobiog should have been called ' I'm a fukkin liar, who took drugs all along.' As for KP, don't you think that when he's interviewed he is a bit thick?

Holding says the complete opposite " I’ve been hearing from certain quarters that Pietersen is ‘unmanageable’. No one is. You’re not going to find any team or squad where everyone gets on. If they think that, they had better wake up. In the great team I played in, there were a few guys that were awkward. But the thing is that you don’t have to be friends or enjoy the company of everybody that you work with. You see them during working hours and you deal with whatever idiosyncrasies they have once they are committed to the team with their words or actions. I haven’t heard of Pietersen undermining the England team. I haven’t heard of him being out of form because he is not motivated. If he’s disturbing the chemistry of the team, fine, but I haven’t heard any complaints about that either. The West Indies dressing room that I was part of had some very strong and different characters. We knew that we were there to represent the West Indies. Once we got on the cricket field, we knew what the job was and we got on with it. Off the cricket field, we often had differences of opinion. Clive Lloyd was almost a father figure so we looked up to him and respected him. He led us and set good examples, and we followed those. We were united on the cricket field. Off the field, it didn’t really matter. You didn’t have to like someone that you played with."

Thats his opinion. From what i have read in the press over past weeks/months,thats the complete opposite. His last comment....We were united on the cricket field..off the field it didn't really matter.....Well from what i have ever seen, KP has only ever been united with KP. But thats just my opinion, which means jack sh.te really.
