John Terry goes on trial this Monday 02:39 - Jul 8 with 55719 viewsDylanP

Terry's trial to start on Monday. Yet another thing to look forward to, Sadly, apparently the maximum he can get is a small fine. However, the humiliation will be a laugh.

Football fans found guilty of racism can be banned from going to football grounds for a while. Wouldn't it be funny if Terry received a football ground ban!!!

Cole is bailing Terry out at the moment backing his story up although he's not sure if Ferdinand said Bridgey or Black. Still no evidence to support Terrys accusations at ferdinand but he's put doubt into the case

He's coming across as the perfect witness!! Apparently he can't remember if AVB gave a half-time team talk but he "thinks he could hear Ferdinand saying 'Bridgey ... black ... cnt' "

Ashley Cole asked by defence if he could remember more abt Terry-Ferdinand conversation. 'No, I was looking forward to going on a night out'

Ashley Cole tells court in Terry trial he did not shake Ferdinand's hand at end of game ...'what he was doing wasn't necessary'

Chief magistrate encourages Cole to say 'c***' word out aloud rather than spell it out, 'Don't be shy'. Cole: 'I'm not'

Cole says he thinks he could hear Ferdinand saying 'Bridgey ... black ... cnt'

Defence: 'Did the manager [AVB] speak to the players at half-time [of QPR game in Nov 2011]?' Ashley Cole: 'I can't remember'

Ashley Cole on the Stand.

Cole chooses to sit down as gives evidence. "Terry is a close friend"

Chief Magistrate: "We'd prefer it if you stood'. Ashley Cole: 'I'd like to sit down'

Jeez, and he hadn't even given any evidence yet.

Cole fined for contempt of court before this is over? Get one Chelsea player successfully prosecuted, get another one absolutely free!

no way will he get done now. You can see why black players refuse to report this sort of stuff when Ferdinand gets slaughtered in court plus death threats and Evra gets accused of being a liar as well in his case

Both Terry and Cole have got away with repeatedly saying that terry is calm, etc and never loses his cool. If the prosecutor had the slightest knowledge of football he'd have strung Terry up on that by immediately asking about the Champions League sending off.

He's going to get off. And then we'll have to listen to him bitching about how unfair the whole thing's been, and how he's lost so much over it.

Defence in case said earlier in case that lip-reading is unreliable. Cole says he didn't hear what Ferdinand said but 'saw' what he said

Top work by the prosecutor. You can't have it both ways. They now have to accept the lip readers words that blow apart Terry's defence, or disregard Cole's evidence which is the only support for Terry. Lovely stuff.

Convenient that he missed Terry's words but not Ferdinand's.

Although he shows himself up by saying as soon as the game was over he was focusing on a night out. Says a lot about him.

he also said he wasn't sure if Ferdinand said black or Bridgey so nothing really cleared up but they've done the job they needed to and put enough doubt in place

I keep saying,he is being tried for racist language, not whether he is racist.
What difference does it make who his friends are?
Hopefully the magistrate won't fall for this bullsh-t.

Is Cole a reliable witness though?

He's presented some more evidence which deviates from John Terry's accounts imho

Of course he's not reliable, he's John Terry's boy. When the black players cold shouldered Terry at the England get-together after the incident Terry sent Cole over to them to see if there was a problem.

There's an amazing amount of ignorant crap being written about this trial, not least (surprise surprise) on Twitter. Rather than risk falling out with any fellow QPR fans by commenting on their various arguments about the value and purpose of this trial, I decided instead to write a piece that rips into the nonsense written by various knobs tweeting about it:

Excellently written although I do think that trawling Twitterland for examples of stupidity is a particularly easy venture but even so I enjoyed the piece. Nice one, man.

Anyone relying on Ashley Cole as a character witness must be desperate. Terry should have asked his parents.
