How good is Diakite? 00:28 - Apr 12 with 1098 viewsbosh67

Now he's learnt a bit about tackling properly this guy is like watching a young Patrick Viera, with a bit of Marc Bircham's in ya face for good measure. He's absolutely everywhere and on a night where Barton was great, Hill was great, Diakite absolutely destroyed the Swansea midfield second half. Techically he's a match for Taraabt but a very different player. He ghosts past players like they're not there, he uses the ball really well, he doubles up all over the park defending. We really have got a gem here and despite his bad start to life at the Rs and occasional late tackle previously this kid is the business. As another thread said, Diakite and Faurlin will destroy teams next season, hopefully in this division. He certainly is the future and a complete joy to watch his work rate, skill and dribbling tonight. MOTM in my opinion. Awesome performance.

Never knowingly right.

Will we be able to keep him even if we do stay up?
Could see Wenger nicking him from under our noses

I'm just hoping first impressions count for as much as people say because if poeple don't think he is a stud happy psychopath we will just have to make a few million quid out of him (as long as we don't go down). He seems to be enjoying himself and long may that continue.

need to cut out the yellow cards but he is heading in the right direction to becoming a very good player
Hughes sign him up now doesn't matter if we stay or go down he is worth keeping.

If a turtle doesn't have a shell, is he homeless or naked?

What I love about him is that he makes things seem so effortless, one second he has two defenders around him and the next he has just run between them, brushing them off like flies and leaving them for dead.

He was sent off on his debut, but Hughes said he was impressed with his 30 mins. He was right. Diakite HAS been the difference in shutting down the midfield. As each game goes by his tackles get better and better. Add him to allow and we have a shut down pair in front of the defence.

Taiwo also is massively improved. He is not often beaten. his flaw might be he plays to far off attackers but that is Hughes tactic.

Adel- has his confidence back. Bottomline after being strangers for Jan ande Feb these guys are finally blending.

Is it silly that I love how he roams the pitch with his shorts rolled up? Don't know why I just like that! Got a good touch, quick feet, athletic and can put ina tackle too, have to make sure we cover his surges forward but he will be exceptional foil for Faurlins passing game and could be our Tiote/Cabaye partnership for next year.

Agree 100%, Diakite is a destroyer. Been crying out for someone who can carry the ball forwards from Midfield and levae players in their wake. Not many Prem teams have someone who can do that so effortlessly. Has confidence in his own ability as we saw in his cool finish against the Arse.

If he carry's on like that, he's going to be a big star.

Taiwoo, started rusty as a nail in the Titanics hull. Been improving steadily everygame and the last few matches he's looked far more confident. In the programme notes he talked about adjusting to life in the Prem. Seems to be adjusting very well, thought he was the nutts against Man U on Sunday.

Hughes's signings so far, barring the illdicipline have been spot on.

massively impressed with him read the game well, good turn of speed , decent tackle can pass and run into space with ease , partner him and faurlin next season and we will have one hell of a midfield .if we stay up he should be the first player we look to sign closely followed by tawio and hill.

Excellent point with Taiwo, he's a champions league quality player he showed that with Marseille that earnt him his move to AC, he hasn't lost that quality but barely played this season so obviously had to get game time on top of adjusting. His handling of Valencia at OT was as good as anyone has managed this season. I hope we can make him permanent as defensive solidity aside he will bang in a few pearlers too.

was also funny to see tawai soak barton as barton did a min lap of honour at the end of the game last night , team spirit seems sky high at the moment long may it continue.

I agree, it's part of his eccentric charm. Even the fact he's commited 25 yellow card offences so far is part of his appeal. I love him so far. We have such an interesting team. 50 % old school heroes Hill, Derry etc, 50% weirdos Cisse, Barton, Taiwo, Diakite, Taarabt. Cool as ice.

We have the option in place to make the Diakite transfer permanent for 3.5m euros in the Summer - i have no idea whether it's contingent on us staying up or not though.

Looks a bargain at that price currently!

Even when he did get booked yesterday it was because he has steamed back to cover for Onouha who got caught out by Sinclair.

Absolutely superb last night. He makes things look so easy, isn't scared to take on players and it was a brilliant first-half tackle inside the box.
Credit to him for adjusting so quickly after his diastrous debut.
A real gem plucked from nowhere and hope he signs permanently.

Wish I could be like David Watts

Every week he gets better and better.

If we manage to keep him for next season he is going to turn out to be a great QPR player. He just needs to work a tad more on his tackling. He can still be a bit rash at times and I am sure there is another red card bubbling under there somewhere.

But by next season that should be out of his system.

Buy him now and give him a 4 yr contract! He's worth it

Of all our signings he is my favourite and to be honest Hughes has bought very well regardless of how the rest of the season goes. last nite he done a few flicks, drag backs and showed tekkers aswell. On what i have seen he is going to have a great career, hopefully its with us.

For me Taiwo is a decent solid left back, he has pace and power and as you say does rarely get beaten which is the main part of his job. However he still looks uncomfortable on the ball and hoofs it forward way to much conceding possession. He has improved alot recently ill grant him that and id still like for us to buy him but just wish he had a little more composure on the ball. if you could combine him and traore we would have one hell of a left back.
