Ok this wont be popular. In the time when Jude was our mascot we failed to get promoted. Briatore gets rid of Jude and we storm our way to the top of the league and promotion.
But then this season Jude is brought back and we are back in the relegation zone. Only Jude for some reason wasn't at Arsenal match and look what happens.
Sorry but was a black cat named after a patron saint of lost causes ever going to bring us luck. And anyone who has read Jude the Obscure will know it doesnt exactly have a happy ending.
That is controvercial but incisive analysis. You are clearly an intellectual in the mould of Arthur Koestler -- not affraid to take on knotty philosophical issues with hard hitting and, at time unpopular, analysis.
Bravo! We need more such honest and biting analysis if we are going to settle to thorny mascot issue once and for all!!!
Saint Jude (Thaddeus) is also the patron saint of people in difficult situations. We are not a hopeless case or a lost cause but we are in a difficult situation. His symbol is a large club. Good enough for me. Us Jews don't do saints, but if we did...
I had also noticed this. OK, last summer I did write a weird account on here about how I hoped Jude would come back and slay Spark at half time in a night match while the theme to Top Cat played really slowly and eerily, but in retrospect I was very unfair, as were many of us who campaigned for his return. Jude was our mascot for years and what did we get? Relegations, a lot play off final and, all right, one promotion. Spark turns up and we win the fecking league in double quick time.
I love you Spark - put the kitten back in the bag, then throw it discreetly in the Thames.
We found a black kitten by the back door a couple of weeks ago. Only a few weeks old, and very vocal. Opened a kitty food packet, and handed it into the vets in a shoe box. Very sweet, but teeth & nails like razor blades. the little ba$tard.
And before anyone says it, we don't eat cats, nor will we serve them in the restaurant. Lamb, goat & chicken yes, cats & dogs no.
It's not what you've got; it's where you stick it.
