Fulham fans.... on 02:36 - Mar 5 by SonofNorfolt | Good shout from Juzzie. I like to think I know a hell of a lot of football supporters, but as for Fulham only 2 that actually go from G'ford/N'olt. Actually know more travelling Charlton than that. |
Most of our support is from Fulham, SW London and the A3 corridor as that's the direction that most Fulham fans have tended to relocate to over the years. For every R from Northolt who doesn't know any Fulham, there's a Fulham fan from Sutton who doesn't know any Rangers. We are massive - you've just got to take my word for it. In terms of dislike - depending on age, I reckon most of us would be Chelsea, Gillingham/Brentford and then maybe you lot after 99, Chris Wright, and a million threads/conversations about how sh it our club is whenever we seem to bump into a Rangers fan (never happens with Chelsea - because 99% of them really don't care about us) Mark Hughes adds to it all, as he was a graceless, charmless t wat as a player, did a decent job with us and then let his ego get the better of him with his diva style exit before finally landing a job six months later at a remarkably similarly sized club up the road . If you stay up - great, I enjoy having a less lop-sided derby, it's a good day out for us (although my knees are still knackered after celebrating our goal) if you go down, we get to laugh at Hughes and Zamora (although I actually felt a bit sorry for Zamora at your place - he looked quite depressed, whereas he normally just looks angry) We were very good yesterday, but Wolves were terrible. Reckon them and Wigan looked nailed-on for relegation. Five goals against us and five against WBA, has totally fu cked up their goal difference, so that's worth another point to you.

All you have tro remember about Fulham are the magical lines from Dennis Potter's The Singing Detective: "Whenever, I want to be alone I go and watch Fulham".

Dennis Potter was a Fulham fan - that's a great line (although I remember it being a bit different) - he was obviously referring to the zoned-out, trance-like state most of us find ourselves in whilst watching Fulham...you go through the turnstiles on the Stevenage Road and you're in your own little world - you can forget about all the extrenal nonsense in your life. That's why it can sometimes seem a bit quiet at the Cottage - we're all in a state of blissed out zen.

I live in Walton, have done for over 20 years. Know a bloke who's a Fulham season ticket holder and me two in our local a couple of years back. That's it in this part of the A3 corridor, as you call it. I know at least 20 Rangers fans and no, they are not all my family. Not that I have any dislike for Fulham whatsoever, never have had as FulhamJim will testify. Grew up in norf ken, didn't know any Fulham fans there either, plenty of scum though! Used to go to yours sometimes as a kid.

Scum, Manure, Liverpool, Arse etc shirts aplenty though. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

I'm not making this up! According to our own club's database, anecdotal evidence and a lifetime of chatting to Fulham fans from all over the place, I can confirm that the bulk of our support live in the SW London/Surrey suburbs and out along the A3 corridor. People who either moved out of the area out of choice, grew-up as the offspring of people who'd moved out from Fulham, or folk who've been priced-out of Fulham/Putney/Hammersmith. I know Fulham fans who've never met a Rangers fan because they grew-up in Wandsworth, Battersea, Balham etc and there weren't any QPR about.

I know, just teasing! Same way that QPR fans have moved out along the A40/M4 corridor and West Ham along the A12/A13 into Essex and Charlton into Kent.... no, hang on, they bussed in 'fans' from Gillingham.

Yeah, it's interesting where people moved to before Fulham became posh - I've got mates whose families moved out to Hounslow, Kenton, Wembley out of choice...no disrespect to any of those areas, but not the smartest of moves in retrospect. But generally, our more long-standing support tends to be from SW of Fulham these days.

From the time when you needed to earn about £3bn p.a. to think about buying a family home there.
