Can some of the Rams fans who have been shouting for us to throw money around please read that article very very carefully. Then read it again.

Some points that need to hit home:

"For the last two years Forest have been losing £1m per month

The irony is that one of the Football League's key FFP strategists is the chief executive of Derby, the American Tom Glick. Under his stewardship on behalf of Derby's transatlantic owners, Derby's debts have fallen from £30m to half that and a wage bill that stood at £16m when Nigel Clough became manager three years ago has been cut by 40 per cent.

Glick has executed their drive towards self-sufficiency so effectively that Derby's operating loss last year was a mere £2.16m.

Financial fair play will lead clubs to change their behaviour. It will place a premium on making good decisions rather than having the biggest wallet."

And when FFP comes in we will be well ahead of the game.

ranting for the greater good

It's a good analysis and the reason why waiting for Derby to improve is like watching paint dry - agonisingly slow - until you start considering all the things that have improved: the academy, the reserves, the mind-set (which includes the concept that you do not quit), the whole system geared to playing the "Derby County" way and finally the finances. But of course some want jam today, even knowing that tomorrow will bring ashes.

Those that get sucked into the "buy big" Greedy League mindset and try to compare DCFC's business with Man City or Chelski should consider how well promoted teams like Swansea & Norwich are doing by a similar ethic to Derby.

Perhaps it might not be too long now before some more of the better run Championship clubs (like DCFC) will be showing the glamour clubs how to do it - on & off the pitch!

It'll also take F****t years to catch us up - and what will happen to Leicester in the long term?
