January Transfer Thread 13:27 - Dec 23 with 140620 views | KeithHaynes | Done some asking and Oli McBurnie is most certainly up for a loan back to the UK this window. I’ve been told four Championship clubs are interested. This will all fall on the fee’s involved plus he is on in the region of €36,000 a week. Big numbers but we know how these things can be negotiated. Do we have the money ? Yes. P&S will need to be positive and only the club really know where we are with that at this moment in time, It won’t be massively healthy. Oli has played fourteen games for Las Palmas this season with no return. He has never been a prolific striker, but could he settle into Luke’s team ?

January Transfer Thread on 10:02 - Feb 2 with 2059 views | wwcigne | At least one midfielder should be a priority , Cooper looked ok and covered more ground and challenged more than Fulton when he came on but we need a 10 who can make things happen to play with him and Franco as Cullen isn’t the answer ,still think we need a solid right back as well. Vipotnik should have played yesterday,no point putting balls in from out wide without a centre forward in there,as we’ve seen,Cullen isn’t a lone striker I think the main priority though is to change the manager, and soon

The way we set up at the start yesterday was just plain stupidity. Nobody knew what they were supposed to be doing. What were they doing on the training ground all week. Williams knew the players he was going to have available for days, it's just not acceptable.

Williams has been outright negligent in his job since the QPR game. In any other industry you'd be sacked without severance for failing to do the basic functions of your job.

I watched the first half, but I' couldn't stomach watching the 2nd half they were an absolute shambles like a team that had just come together yesterday morning after meeting in a pub, the only thing that resembled a football was the kit they were wearing, Williams is to blame he has to be he "prepared" the team all week. Should have been sacked as soon as the game finished totally out of his depth and I'd add Coleman to that to he's presiding over the shambles. Totally clueless the lot of them. We're going down without a doubt there's just no hope with that team, 2 or 3 players coming in isn't gonna be able to turn this team around.

January Transfer Thread on 06:51 - Feb 2 by sons_of_omri | It’s obvious by that statement that you can’t. All bar one massive point - a midfielder even on loan is desperately needed. If we can get Low in it would be a massive bonus. The more people go on about a new striker the less they realise that the main problem still wouldn’t be addressed- no midfield creativity. At least we know that it wasn’t Grimes holding Fulton back anymore. |
I used to think that Fulton a few years ago, but the only thing that resembles a footballer is that he's wearing a football kit. He's lost the will and just going through the motions, needs to go now or in the summer the latest.

January Transfer Thread on 09:23 - Feb 2 by jack247 | I thought that too. They are desperate to survive and if they have identified him as the type of player they need, he’s quite effective. Play him in a midfield two like we did yesterday and he’ll be a waste of money |
He looked about has effective as a fag butt yesterday afternoon in the first half that I saw, sadly he wasn't alone. [Post edited 2 Feb 12:22]

No chance. We literally can't afford him to go. After Grimes' departure he's now our main CM along with Franco

Most clubs would have sacked him by now.

Anything over £1M I would be very tempted even in our current position, he offers nothing.

You are so right, switching to 3.or was it 5 ? At the back yesterday was mind boggling, the players looked just as confused with it not knowing what they were supposed to do,and as a team we’ve never looked comfortable with that system whenever it’s been tried ,we’ve been far more effective when we’ve played 4 at the back with fullbacks and wingers not these ‘wingbacks’ we have now that can’t defend and seem to squeeze our wingers making them less effective

The issue now is that we are in free fall, sold our captain and offer league 1 wages. Very little to attract the type of player we need on either a permanent or loan basis unless they are desperate for game time.

If you play 5 at the back, the fullbacks are the wingers. They attack and defend, meaning you can play 3 in midfield and either two up front, or a Cullen type drifting between the midfield and the striker. Yesterday was just nonsense. Attacking full backs and wingers, which meant we had two in the middle and Cullen caught between helping the midfield or getting between the wingers. We somehow managed to outnumber ourselves everywhere apart from on the flanks where the fullbacks and wingers didn’t link up to any real effect. I’m not surprised the players were confused, it was confusing to watch!

Agree with that. Aimless for most of the match….but you could say that for most of the team. Let’s face it….we don’t have high quality players and struggle with changing systems. We are in a relegation battle so at lest stick to one formation and keep things simple.

These are experienced players though surely they shouldn't need spoon feeding at this stage of their careers and especially at this level, there's got to be a level of competency between the players. LW needs to go 100% but the above is also true for me. 3 at the back should be workable with three CB's and competent wing backs.
