Who is our defensive coach? 09:50 - Nov 3 with 779 viewsUmPahars

Because once we know who he is, we know who we need to bin off!!!!

The setting up for defensive free kicks yesterday was abysmal. Lost count of the number of times Everton lined up with two big lads on the far side of their attacking line and we often only had Flyn Downes up against them.

I spotted it early on in the game and yet we let it continue, and if you look at the Beto crossbar header then you will see what I mean (two centre halves on the far side and Flyn Downes isolated).

We’ve lost points defending (or not defending) set pieces and it will continue throughout the season unless someone gets a grip.

And as in previous matches we left two opposition players free on the edge of the box when defending corners.
We should have learnt our lesson on this with goals conceded regularly by leaving players spare on edge of box.
We don't need so many players marking in the box, let our big defenders & Ramsdale deal with balls coming into the box.

Totally agree - isn’t it Calderwood?
Same mistakes as every single game this season we just got away with it yesterday
Leaving players unmarked again on their corners is unforgivable
It also doesn’t help that the defence changes weekly
The fact RM was a CB is astounding

Totally agree, it’s a negligent approach to defending. Much had been said about our non threatening possession football, but this is just as bad.

It's either.
A) Poor coaching
B) Players having a lack of a football brain
C) Lack of discipline.
Probably a combination of all three of above.

Any team coming up against us knows that they are going to get plenty of chances so long as they can win free kicks and press the defenders. When you look at the player positions when playing out, almost every option. Apart from passing to the goalie looks like a risky one. I just don’t believe that the players are completely unaware, but what they are doing is the lazy option and the passer gets the blame because the others do not work hard enough to get into positions to receive (other than go deeper and deeper).
