Is in the squad for the Swindon FA Cup tie.

No really this is not a trick but let's hope he can treat us to a good performance.

Evidently Thorn is Cup tied.

Matt Jay was instrumental in us getting a deserved draw at the County Ground last season, so let's hope he takes the opportunity to do even better this time around. I would love for us to finally get the quality out of Matt Jay that we all know he has - here's hoping!

Matt Jay.

There is a story here.

His signing was rightly received with enthusiasm by fans of the club.

Four different Manager / Coaches have had him at their disposal but the reason he has been sidelined has never been properly explained.

Where is the instruction to keep him from playing coming from?

Matt Jay's time at the club has cost an awful lot of money.

It's money wasted and the waste of the talents of a player who was highly rated in Division 2.

This is just one of many mysteries from a club where there is a degree of smoke and mirrors.

Seemed pretty pointless to include him in the squad, take him all the way to Swindon and then not even give him a single minute when we're chasing the game. Jay probably has more career goals than the rest of the bench combined. I can't remember another signing that came with so much excitement ending so disappointingly.

Just imagine that you’re sitting on that bench with around 200 L1/L2 games and 64 goals under your belt, your 28, so you should be at the top of your game. We are in danger of being knocked out of the cup, but the gaffer leaves you on the bench but puts on a 19 year old Huddersfield reject (yes, Huddersfield, you can’t make it up), with no league experience, who’s found his level playing in the Isthmian League North Division.

Are the conspiracy theorists correct, Matt’s played 39 times for the U’s, does it cost us more if he plays 40 times?

It would certainly appear that there’s something very strange going on at the U’s and I would guess that like most of our woes, it stems from Mr. ‘my club, not yours’.

I'm not even sure Sandah has found his level at Maldon & Tiptree as he has been on the bench there recently.

With Colchester United effectively operating much of their development in the Maldon and Tiptree area many of us will have limited options on seeing any player progression.

Maldon & Tiptree F.C. have had a poor run of results recently.

They have a habit of sacking Managers for no reason.

Dave Huzzey was a convenient appointment.

Jamie Cureton went to manage Cambridge City taking half the M&T side with him.

I cannot believe a player was signed on the basis we had to pay more if he played 40 or more league games as that means one srason yet he was given a 2.5 year contract. Just doesn't make sense.

Kind of the club to allow Matt Jay to play in a football match.

According to sources in East London Dagenham and Redbridge could have won the Essex Senior Cup match by 10 goals to nil.

They had to settle for 1 nil as Colchester put in a lifeless performance for the most part.

But Tom Smith was exceptional.
