The Trust have confirmed on twitter/x that we were at 9,500 a few weeks ago (this does not include hospitality packages).

It will be interesting to see the crowd this evening - it is on Sky, not part of the season ticket and there are two home games coming up in the next 11 days.

It didn't help tonight also that there was a massive queue at the ticket office because, like us, we could not get tickets online if you linked tickets ,
I'm sure loads didn't then bother .

But for the size of our catchment area we should be have far better attendances
Other cities in the UK have great support but they only have football and it's thier way of life

Burnley a classic mate
70000 population .
In the fifties their average was half the towns population.
This in an area awash with football clubs.
Swans have no competition at all . And I don’t count the capital clowns
We had our chance to market the club when an established PL club

I have still not got over that and never will

Have contractors here today and we’ve been talking about Bony,Sigursson and Michu playing at Anfield and taking the game to Liverpool . And winning .

Too forking right, many are still sick about that

Poll: Christmas. Enjoyable or not

There was a five or six game spell under Duff where things really clicked. He wasn't able to maintain it for whatever reason and it cost him his job.

He also didn't help himself by not being the kind of smooth talking arse kisser that our fans adore. If he had been he might have been given more leeway. Certainly given the time and tolerance that Russy was from Oct 22 to April 23 he might have turned it around.

With Williams it's clear that the club has pivoted back to the path it was trying to follow before Duff came in. We can but hope that it works out better this time.

Duff was without a doubt the worst manager we have had since relegation. He’s pushing Bradley.

The spell he had was just after we lost at Cardiff and posted our worst start to the season for 30 years and came straight after Allen, Grimes, Naughton and one other (maybe Fulton, can’t remember) were ‘strongly rumoured’ to have confronted him about our playing style.

We did well for a few games, then played Leicester at home, gave them too much respect, got turned over and slowly deteriorated.

His persona didn’t help him you’re right, but his football did more damage.

Well, no. In reality it's debatable whether he was even worse than Martin considering how badly RM underachieved with the squad he had available to him.

It's truly baffling how many people have forgotten just how terrible we actually were for no reason other than managerial intransigence in the Winter of 22/23, and how many people continue to excuse the man largely responsible for it. Maybe if Duff had gone six months without beating eleven men perhaps he'd deserve vitriol of the level that he does receive.

He was a bad fit. It didn't work. It happens. Almost on a par with Bradley? Don't be silly. You're smarter than that.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

I don't really think Duff was as poor as he's made out. It didn't pan out as any of us wanted and he didn't do himself any favours around his comments around the Cardiff game and his general demeanour but he was left in the lurch by Ntcham buggering off on the eve of the season and , as we are seeing again this year again a depleted squad. He didn't have the Swiss Tony patter to style it out as Russ did and wasn't afforded the time of his predecessor and paid the price. Hopefully Williams can give us what we are all wanting for the coming season

I'd agree with you about Martin, we had a better team than the results he was delivering. I'd say he's a chequebook manager, he's fine as long as he can buy the better players. Maybe he'll get found out this season, or he'll prove me wrong.

Duff was just a bad fit, another manager who didn't get rivalry on top of whatever else was wrong.

Williams has to show us he's better because we all know the owners are not going to be spaffing 10 million on one player or 50-60 million on several. They haven't got it, we haven't got it. So he'll have to coach the players to be better.

I don’t think it’s debatable at all. Martin had an awful start, but it didn’t make the record books. Had he not won a game until the players practically went on mutiny, he may not have lasted as long as Duff did. We’ll never know either way.

From memory, one of your biggest criticisms of Martin (which I completely agree with) is he only started winning when he abandoned his style and as soon as he picked up enough points he reverted to it. Duff did exactly the same.

What we do know, is Martin is in the Premier League and Duff is in league one. Fans may fall for his charm offensive. Football clubs don’t.

On reflection, I agree about Bradley. He was a different level.

In fairness Duff has won both his matches so far this season.

Duff was not here long enough to damage .
In fact neither was Bradley really but he was on the ropes

Duff set us back a lot longer than the couple of months he was in charge. We signed a raft of players based on him being the manager and playing his way, then we sacked him and brought in someone with a completely different philosophy.

That isn’t his fault, but it’s naive to think his appointment only affected us while he was here.

I know you were not talking to me but IMO Duff was useless and had to go, Alan Sheehan should have remained in charge and still be in the position.

Sheehan did doom. I remember that
I’m not dispitingbBB was inept and hapless ,just that he was dismissed promptly
The footballl Williams is serving up is worrying

think if the club showed they want to go upwards and bring in some quality guys to improve the squad and give it some depth people may feel they will renew or buy for the first time but as we are and the quality being served up at the moment why would people buy a season ?

Loyalty. All football club owners bar the super rich rely on it and exploit it.

Casual fans will just find something else to do, can’t blame them.

9,500, how much less than last season is that?

Don't think 9.5k, 50% of available home tickets, is bad in these cost of living times for a 14th placed finish Championship team.

50s gates were up everywhere compared to now, other than the top prem teams.

No games on TV back then so couldn't support Man U.

Plus people have other options on how to spend their leisure time which they couldn't do 70 years ago.

I downloaded season ticket to my iPhone and saved in wallet app. It says 2023/24 on the tickets can these still be used for 24/25 season as it has been said use same ticket as last season but does that mean the physical card or the virtual one like this type on your phone

I would delete and re-download to be on the safe side.

The club are pushing the season ticket deadline on the official site today:

https://www.swanseacity.com/news/less-one-week-go-get-your-season-ticket-now

I would hope the club and trust come up with some "match-link" plans to offer discounts to get crowds up in the coming months.

I don't disagree. We knew the Russy approach didn't work which is why we appointed Duff in the first place. We'd have been better off trying to find a middle ground between the two styles.

Signing a raft of players to suit one manager, then ditching him and doing a complete 180 back to where we were in the first place was an exceedingly stupid thing to do. It basically wrote off several million quids worth of players in one fell swoop, players that a manager other than LW might have been willing to make use of.

Absolutely. Whether a playing style is working or not, you can’t just take a sledgehammer to it and go polar opposite over a pre season.

We then pretty much did the same exercise in reverse a few months later.

From Cooper to Martin to Duff to Williams is three big jumps in playing style.

Cooper to Duff or Martin to Williams would presumably have been smoother transitions.
