How splendid - in their new stand.

https://www.standard.co.uk/homesandproperty/luxury/fulham-fc-riverside-stand-sky

We, of course, experienced this first with the rivers of pee in the away end at Ashton Gate.

Not sure it will be worth the undoubtedly extreme prices in sub zero temperatures?

What I do wonder about is clubs like Fulham setting themselves up like this. Sure, fine now, because you're playing Man Utd, Liverpool etc so you'll draw that crowd. But Fulham have recently and could really easily again end up in our division, or even the one below. And as we saw with the "where is Ji Sung?" crowd we drew to Loftus Road for a season, they drop you in an instant as soon as your league games are against Rotherham.

The end-game for (most) Prem clubs though is never having to play the likes of Rotherham again. They're looking for a closed league with club parity to satisfy the international football tourist who care nothing about club history. They want to see stars more than
teams. A visit to Craven Cottage or Stamford Bridge for a game will be on the same itinerary as taking in a show in the West End.

They are fecked if they go down. As Clive said.

Did I ever mention that I was in Minder?

It's all about 'maximising non match-day revenue' which, as we know, just goes into players & agents pockets who clearly cannot live on £50k a week as it is.

So, what happens when that existing revenue maxes out and you need to find more income to pay the ever increasing sums of money to players?

Spot on, this is not about people going for a swim on Matchday (although I read you can!!!) This is about those young and trendy folks, spending their hard earned cash at one of these rooftop bars that are all over the place.

As much as it pains me to say this, but it will be rammed in the summertime, there will be memberships before you know it and they will make a good few quid from it.

It will be like this place https://www.sohohouse.com/en-us/houses/shoreditch-house

Remember there are only say 25 games there a year, so no more than 50 hours of football.

The Jacksonville Jaguars have a similar thing, I think it’s the same owner isn’t it. However, temperatures are a bit nicer there..In Jacksonville, it looks quite good fun as you can sit in the pool and watch the game.

A chum of a chum, was paying £800 for his ST. When invited to return after the new stand was finished, FFC were delighted to offer a return to his new seat, for £2k!

He's been a ST for decades, and through the lower reaches of the football league. He told them, nahh!

Of all the clubs in the Prem, FFC are in the group whose longterm tenure is precarious, and relegation will inevitably happen sooner rather than later. Let's see how many of their new fans will remain to see Preston at home.

Fcuk 'em!

For match tickets yes, but England shirts? What foreigner is going to buy an England shirt? If sales for England shirts plummeted, they would have to rethink the pricing, but I realise that's wishful thinking.

What foreigner would want to buy an England shirt? Quite a lot, I should think. Are you not familar with the concept of souvenirs?

They've warned the Boat Race crews not to jump in the Thames, as it is contaminated with e-Coli, due to all the sewage.
How appropriate for FFC.

Fulham used to have a great swimming pool back in the day, with a wave machine and everything. Had some great times there.

Alternatively they could try the away end at Swindon, that's actually unlike anything in the world of unlike anythingness.

Whilst I agree completely with the gist of your overall post, and accept that some of the owners would like a closed shop, they're never going to get it (imo).

Remember, it was fans of the so-called Big Six who killed the last such proposal (European Super League) stone dead. And that was only a part of the shop - the rest (i.e. PL) was meant to carry on as before, if with reduced "importance".

Add to that the opposition from the all the other clubs (PL/EFL/NL), the FA, UEFA and the new Regulator etc, and I really can't see it applying in England.

(Aside from that, some great comments generally on this thread)

The Janet Adegoke claimed to have a wave machine but were forced to shut it when it turned out to just be a fat bloke from the estate repeatedly jumping into the deep end for Mars bars.

I think the vast majority of Fulham fans are really fu cked-off with the club. We knew prices would be ridiculous in the new stand, and I think most of us grudgingly accepted that the stand wasn't intended for "people like us" , but I think there was a naive belief that the revenue from the Riverside would be used to keep prices elsewhere, relatively reasonable. Instead, we have big increases in season tickets prices and match by match prices have gone from taking the pi ss to absolutely taking the pi ss. The club have also said that as far as they're concerned, they will get the maximum they can for a seat and they're not interested in who buys the ticket. Insult to injury - the restricted access to the riverside area means that the Hammersmith concourse is absolute chaos now.

I'm on a boycott - I've done one game this season - Rotherham in the cup because it cost us £21 or something, rather than the £110+ it would now cost for me to take my son to a PL game and sit in the Hammersmith or Putney.

We will go down again, and as others have said, let's see what happens to gates /prices then because the club are really alienating a chunk of support that has been through all the divisions.

On the tourist front, I'm taking my son to the Rome derby next week. I ended up paying €163 and €50 for our tickets, when they went on general sale, and could have paid a lot more. They're all at it. My wife loves football, but at that price decided to give it a miss as she's already seen Fulham there. So, the cu nts are even pricing out tourists!

Fulham FC: It's the taking part that counts
