Welcome to the lion's den - match thread 11:59 - Dec 25 with 53772 viewsTomS

As the song continues, temptations on his way. You look at the form table, see Millwall struggling and think to yourself 'you know what, we can win this'.

The thing about new managerial bounces is that gravity eventually kicks in and you revert back to the level you should have been at all along. We won three in a row, but the feel good factor is beginning to wear off. We should have earned more than one point from our last three outings, but didn't. Gravity is holding us back from our desired ascent up the table. We cannot score as often as we need to, as we don't have (m)any natural goalscorers on the team. Pot shots from 60
yards don't usually result in goals.

So what's going to happen against Millwall? There won't be many goals scored in this one. I think we'll continue to frustrate ourselves and will fail to score, but will suffer from another momentary lapse of
concentration in defence and will lose 1-0.

If we don't win today we're going down

Millwall are an AWFUL team. If we can't beat them than we won't stay up

Really poor goal to concede Clarke-Salter no awareness there was someone behind him and no urgency in the defending

It said we had a free kick just before they scored on the BBC site, did we just kick the ball to them?

Why was it Kakay fault???

For someone who is a self professed football expert I’m surprised you didn’t see Kakay leave his position to track the (offside) man into the middle and leave the freedom of The Den for the cross.

After a great start we have really levelled out under Marti, I wonder why.

The lack of a Championship quality striker really doesn't help but we are firmly back to not creating much.

Marti, the miracle worker or just a naughty boy?

Yikes, this 'dip' after a good trio of results is worrying.

This is quite a crucial game though, if we are to have ambitions........ of staying up!

Even I won't defend that utter shambles. Kakay tracked his man offside.

horrible goal that...
Kakay got dragged out of position and left his side of the goal totally open, but still should have stopped it going in somehow.. awful goal at an awful time.. just as we had looked at least to be matching them and could have done something second half... bugger

There is something almost comforting about our return to normal. No need to worry about hope anymore. Five knuckle shufflers the lot of them.

This is up there as the worst performance in a long time. Side to side back to Asmir. Long Ball, Dykes loses it back it comes. Side to side back to Begovic, back to Dunne, give it away. Chair comes deep gives it to Dozzell or Field and back it goes to the CBs and then the goalkeeper.

Awful game of football. Awful teams and naturally we manage to be even worse than another shite side.

No way are we coming back from this. Expect a 3-0 defeat and ay least one red card.

...and can anyone explain what the drop ball on the edge of their area was all about? We are in possession yet Millwall get the uncontested drop ball to hoof it to our defence. WTF?

Utter shite. Utterly depressing. So QPR.

Can we go out yet?

We always concede just before halftime ffs

Its shocking and embarrasing how we give up late goals in both halves and no manager can figure it out from the last 4 that tried.
Trying to get into halftime tied or ahead for QPR is mission impossible and forget about holding out for a draw like SW we just fcuk it up .
Same bunch of players same rubbish pretty miserable so far

I’ve never known a team concede such stupid goals at stupid times and to sH1t teams
I got pelters saying we were down even with our few wins from the last week the talk of finnishing top six was embarrassing
I really hope Marti has clean broom for next season and ships out Dozzell, Field, Kakay, Dykes and Dunne , all of them are truly woeful

And Bowles is onside, Swinburne has come rushing out of his goal , what can Bowles do here , onto the left foot no, on to the right foot That’s there that’s two, and that’s Bowles Brian Moore

Its the playing staff

Our players are shit.

Lyndon Dykes has score around 20 goals in over three seasons.

Unless chair wins us the game we lose eery week.

Marti is a good manager I think but our players are awful

That goal and the timing just about sums up our season so far !
Can’t wait for the 3 o’clock games and watching more daylight appearing above us !

Dykes has been completely isolated. Chair and Smyth staying very wide so that our only option is Begovic to JCS to Begovic to Dunne.

Very poor game between 2 crappy Championship teams.

I'm not sure if Dozzell is supposed to be pushing up and supporting Dykes. Not sure Dozzell knows either.
Dunne and Kakay is an axis of doom today.

New manager bounce well and truly over: this squad will get us relegated.
Need to use the transfer window very wisely and get better players in who are able/willing to play for the new manager and the style he wants.

We seem to be going backwards. A few moments of decent approach play, zero cutting edge/end product, and our usual preventable/pigshit-thick goal concession gives us a minor mountain to climb. How is Dykes a professional footballer? Dunne is about as reassuring as an oil rig. Is Dozzell actually playing?

65% (mostly pointless) possession, 0 on-target attempts. With these players, is Marti going to be able to do anything more than fashion a team that is easy on the eye going forwards at times but couldn't score in a brothel?

Poll: What should the club do now (assuming no imminent change of owners)?
