If that's true its ridiculous. He shouldn't be anywhere near the club if he is not under contract. Using our valuable facilities for nowt.

I agree with you, and I think they're pretty blatantly trying to manipulate the PR and sell the message around both him and Martin getting another year. But another poster on here did say at the end of last season that if a player gets a bad injury at the end of their deal you have to let them recoup at your place as part of a deal with the PFA. Rangel and Faurlin both did this previously, and the club promoted it because it made them look good, but apparently it's a PFA stipulation.

yeah--problem is his ability is about National league level and at 22 not that young...if its kakay and him it won't be pretty

I don't know where people are getting the idea he's going to be 2nd choice behind Kakay. He's been given a year's contract extension that's all. I personally think he deserves it.

Drewe is 22, 2 years older than Armstrong. I don't think it takes much to see which of those two *might* have a future at this level or higher.
Another year for Drewe feels like more of the same Shodipo/Kendall etc situation to me.

Can't lie, for some reason I thought he was only 19. Yeah, for 22 I'm not quite as keen.

Now Archer is with us for another year, what happens with Mahoney and Walsh?

Assuming Archer continues as back up (oh please, please), Mahoney must be feeling peeved he's not been given that slot as he's been in and around the squad for a couple of years now. However, Swindon are reportedly interested in taking him on a season long loan which would be just what he needs.

Walsh's development feels like it's stalled somewhat. He also needs an extended loan to get games but may well be retained should Mahoney end up at Swindon. If so it'll be a season of Bteam games for him.

I don’t get all the criticism of Ozzy Kakay on here. Been with us since he was a kid, always tries his best and is versatile enough to play anywhere in defence or midfield. Sure, he’s no Roberto Carlos but has 100% good attitude and is Rs through and through.

Every season we have pages of threads moaning about all we want is players that give their all for the team and Oz does that every time he’s called on. Let’s do something radical this year and support the players who are trying their best.

Rant over 🤷🏻‍♂️

What criticism of Kakay? I can't see any.

Myself and a couple of others have stated that he should be second choice right back. I agree, he's a handy squad player. Just not first choice.

I quite like Drewe. I thought he was brave when he came in last season, did what he was told to the best of his ability and seems to have a good footballing brain.

He got torn apart when I saw him last season. Miles off it.

Scooters, Tunes, Trainers and QPR.

Why not? It’s free positive PR.

Do you want Balogun on Undr The Cosh in six months talking about how friendly the club is, therefore attracting signings, or do you want him whining and bitching and painting us a club that quibbled over the cost of water usage?

Sorry Jon, but it's not ridiculous. We are just honouring our obligations.

Every club has to allow players recovering from injury to use their facilities to recouperate. We did the same for Rangel & have no say in the matter.

EDIT I've just seen that Clive has already posted this. I really should read to the end of a thread before replying!

I do agree but tbf Rangel earned it and was entitled to it, Balogun hasn't and isn't.

Don’t get me wrong. I’d like us to be able to have Championship quality third-choice full-backs too. It’s just not very realistic atm.

If any prospective signings are judging whether they should sign for a club or not by watching "Undr The Cosh" then they're probably not the sort you'd want anyway.

Third choice does not have to be championship level but we need them to be 18/19 year olds who have the potential to progress rather than older players who are not going to make the grade. He probably won’t cost much but every penny counts.

We need to use what meagre resources we have better.

He'll be injured by then probably

We're keeping Balogun close at hand in case any defenders get injured.

We'll then use him for spare parts.

I'm telling you this in confidence so keep it to yourselves

Aaron joined us aged 8 so I'm going to give him a bit of leeway ;)

Drewe probably be loaned out and Kakay be back up to a signing or loan player more than likely as would be more sense due to FFP.

Drewe would more than likely have a recall clause, if injuries to either right back that still at club.

He is a player probably not good enough but as an emergency it makes sense to do this.

The club have consistently loaned in a few decent full backs recently ie Moses Odadejo, Sam McCullum, Ethan Laird, Angel Rangel, etc

He's now 22, ffs - he's had 14 years already. If he can't be competitive in the Champ now in his position, the likelihood is he never will be.

Poll: How many points will we take from our next 3 games (S'land H, M'bro H, Leeds A)?

Archer and Drewe on 09:10 - Jun 25 with 1160 viewsgazza1

No issues with Archer....whenever he has played he hasn't let the side down. I am sure he will not be on big money.

As for Drewe, the jury is out.....a tryer, for sure, a player, not so sure, a Championship full back, I'm even more unsure. Cheap!!!!

Drewe needs a loan with an EFL club, then we can judge him by that.

we need a RB in, with Kakay as a backup option.

yeah, let him go and find a level he can play regularly in, grow and succeed as a player. said it before, apart from financially I don't think we're doing these 20 yrs old + 'use only as the truly last resort' players any favours by having them at the club playing not enough football.

what a f'king mess we're in.
