119 appearances at age 27 and about to move onto his 13th club.

Finding these Academy gems is tough.

TBF, he might have fallen on his feet at Bromley.
Hopefully, the experiences of the last few years might have focused his mind, as I remember the word on the street when he was with us being that he maybe needed to work out what he really wanted.

I think we did actually receive a fee for him, not a lot but more than some.

the only thing I remember about him was an absolute blinder of an own goal in a pre-season friendly a few years back.

Would you believe £450k from Barnsley, Mel?
Feels like a King's Ransom now..

His old man was a coach at Sandgate in Hayes a few years ago. No idea if he still is, but a really nice fella

An interesting little fact about the lad is that he's played in all of the top 6 levels of English football. Can't be many players who can claim that.

I had high hopes for Cole when I saw him play for England U20's back in 2015.
I was initially disappointed that we sold him to Barnsley shortly afterwards.
I then witnessed his performance for St Mirren in a 4.1 thrashing at Hearts in the SPL barely 3 years later. Not only did he look woefully out of his depth but his body language was awful.
A rare piece of good footballing business by the club when we moved him on.

The talent is there......but he got carried away with living the life of an overcompensated (while never likely to play) young footballer. As many/most of these academy gems do.

Did he? I don't recall that. I know Kpekawa was sent home from a trial at Hull after a disciplinary issue, and his loan to Leyton Orient didn't exactly go swimmingly either. The decision to sell was made after that. Done well to get anything, really.

Gotta stop paying attention to NPC's on social media posing as QPR fans, Dave!

Didn‘t Steve Finnan play at every level and cup competition from Conference to World Cup or something?

You have a good memory, Bazza. Just looked him up and...

Steve Finnan is the only player to have played in the World Cup, UEFA Champions League, UEFA Cup, Intertoto Cup, all four levels of the English league football and the Football Conference.

I only remember it because there was a dignified piece about him on Soccer AM when he retired, just before he took a penalty in clown shoes against a Page 3 girl with her chest hanging out.

He had a serious attitude and disaplinery problem at the academy. Very arrogant individual who we did well to get rid of

Poll: Now it’s slightly clearer cut who do you want as manager ?
