Surely Eze’s nailed on to get minutes in one of the games to ensure that he plays for England ahead of Nigeria. Southgate seems to rate him (and rightly so) so it makes sense. |  | | |

The point is that Hungary stuck four past us when Southgate did what you wanted and picked a more attacking line up. It didn’t work. But you’ll never acknowledge this as it doesn’t suit the agenda that Southgate is overly negative.
The reason Southgate sticks with this approach/system is because it’s been largely successful throughout his reign and chopping and changing every game doesn't work when you only get circa 10 games a year with a group of players.
And let’s not forget that we were a couple of penalty kicks away from winning a major tournament under Southgate. | | | |
