Bentley Out? 19:01 - Feb 4 with 13710 views | blackdogblue | Seen a few posts where it is mentioned he needs to go… also KH being mentioned in the last week or so… Will leave this to James to do a poll 😎 Yes, he inherited a “team” from Stockdale & ins / outs was only a week ago.. settle in or are games running out.. As a fans led club “at the moment”… do we have faith in him as a Manager??? Talk of within as well.. not sure where as not smaller JM..

New manager syndrome has not worked.. yes xfer window has brought some fresh players in but as much as I try & stay out of things nowadays… at the end of the day the Manager picks the team, formation & tactics… See that is well working.. |

And the Coleman era at Dale was great? A success? Brought some pride back to the club??? No, it wasn't like that at all was it? It was embarrassing being a Dale fan at that time - horrible gamesmanship and general shithousery. Coleman took Dale down from L1, and at the time he was replaced, relegation from L2 into the National League looked at distinct possibility Until Hill saved the day, and secured a mid-table finish Then, what happened next? Back into L1 playing fantastic possession-based football, chasing the play-offs into the Championship. And your analysis is some half-baked PC nonsense. Jog on, pal. I was right on Coleman, and I'm also right on Bentley, and Hill I really hope that time does not have an opportunity to prove me right, AGAIN! He will destroy RAFC if he continues for much longer. And I am only posting on here again, putting up with morons who have never even played in the park, because I care about this club Make no mistake, if we don't get rid of Bentley now, we are going down, and the club is going bust! I really shouldn't feed trolls, but here goes: What happened next? Coleman ended up back at Accy, and they've had a great run in L1 The prejudice you put on display for all to see at the top of this thread is unworthy of the club and its fanbase. We'd be better off without you [Post edited 4 Feb 2023 20:49]

And then Hill completely lost the plot and was sending us down from L1. He's then not lasted 365 days in 3 subsequent jobs with a win rate at his last one of around 7%.

Coleman was a disaster at Dale and nearly finished the club off. The survival of RAFC is at stake, and all you've got is some sub-GCSE PC, woke, bollocks about 'prejudice'. And who are you to say who should and shouldn't be fans of RAFC? Does that matter more to you than the survival of RAFC? I think it does. What about the other times over the last decade when the club was in trouble? Why not post then? Or is the future only in jeopardy linked to certain managers?

Yes, it does matter more than the survival of Rochdale FC If we were a club harbouring the type of prejudice you've displayed, we wouldn't deserve to survive Is that clear enough for you?

Bentley Out? on 20:02 - Feb 4 by NigelWatson | Look at Hill's record at Dale. He was a football genius. Converting a full-back (Matt Done) into a top draw striker at L1 level, so much so that Sheff U paid a fee for him. Then he converts a striker (Joe Bunney) into a wing-back, and Northampton pay a fee to us for him. Personally, I think Hill struggled when his Dad died, and he just needed a bit more time to get over it - but we fired him! |
Good examples of good Keith Hill. After that though was the re-signing of 36/37 year old David Perkins who was then castigated by Hill for essentially being restricted positionally by his age. He then signed an even older Wilbraham who was then dropped after failing to adapt to a left wing role (age 39!). Jordan Williams was lauded, whilst far better players were jettisoned or deemed ‘unreliable’. You talk of Joe Bunney’s transformation but it was apparent to most for a good 12 months before he left that he really wasn’t a left back/wing back. Hill was absolutely fantastic but it’s a bit disingenuous not to even mention the last 12/18 months of his time here.

Bentley Out? on 21:20 - Feb 4 with 2325 views | EllDale | I thought Matty Done was a forward who was converted into a left back in an emergency in a cup tie? There were good and bad signings as with every manager. NML was a classic example but what about all those crap keepers like Perereai (sp) and Magnus Norman?

Were they any worse than what we have now? Keepers get sent out on loan from top clubs for a reason... to see if they have what it takes, many are found out early at our level , the ones that do well generally go on to have good careers.. Heaton, Fielding Sanchez , even Bazunu. all of who would be a good swap right now. Hill's first spell was a revelation, he brought in players no one had heard of and turned sand into diamonds. If he could still do that, we have tons of sand.....They played with purpose and conviction, now we have a team where the blame is starting to run through the camp, people pointing at each other, shouting at each other , just watch todays highlights, once the atmosphere turns poisonous... its over.

Bentley Out? on 08:45 - Feb 5 with 1605 views | Trev | Although I've not listened to every single interview, I've never heard Bentley offer any kind of tactical insight or solution as to how we are going to get out of the mess we are in. He strikes me as an old school manager who demands hard work above all else. I don't necessarily think this is a bad thing with a limited squad, but the players seemingly aren't responding. Regards the Eastwood situation, it defies all logic and is unfair and insulting to everyone involved. It needs explaining asap.

With Eastwood now it is completely unfair to the player to keep playing him. Would try and make a plea to supporters not to hurl abuse at him as well, he’s trying his best and has obviously lost a lot of confidence.

Bentley Out? on 09:30 - Feb 5 with 1399 views | Dale2017 | I've tried to keep getting behind Bentley but I'm just not seeing anything that inspires me with any degree of confidence that he can get us out of this. There has been some baffling team selections, a lack of urgency to change things that clearly aren't working and like another poster said earlier, there's just seems to be no indication coming from him that he knows what he needs to do to turn it around.
Bentley Out? on 09:35 - Feb 5 with 2197 views | NorthernDale | To be honest, I don't know what the answer is, Bentley inherited a squad, which was so poor, as to be embarrassing. However Jim as also made mistakes in terms of team selection, for example he changed the team after the Bradford game, despite having two draws and a win. It is not the first time he as done this, earlier in the season he dropped White and brought John in at left back and in doing so destabilised the defence, and continued game after game, despite the team had been picking up points previously. He continues with the same formation, home and away, I can appreciate playing five at the back away from home, but playing a negative defensive system at home, which is not creative, the result being once we concede, we are in trouble. One thing about Bentley, I would say he is stubborn, he won't change formation or accept that his team selection is wrong and he is a reactive, rather proactive manager. Sadly he generally waits until we are two down before he makes any changes. Gillingham brought into two experienced managers to assist Harris and they have improved, do we bring in somebody like Keith or Askey as D.o.F to assist him.
