Seems that a group of players approached the PFA having been subjected to racist language. The PFA contacted the FA and now the club has acted. The investigation will determine whether it is true. But he might face FA sanction too. Not great and not linked to the takeover at all

First allegations were made prior to the takeover according to a newspaper report.

So the obvious culture question is: How and why did it go on so long? Phrases like "routine use" don't inspire any confidence nor does the quote: "One Crawley player, who did not wish to be named, told Sportsmail: ‘He called us terrorists, suicide bombers, curry munchers. He also called one of the players a Zulu warrior. It’s been going on since 2020-21 – in the changing room, during training. No one challenged him on it as he’s the gaffer and we didn’t feel we could. Sometimes players say things in the heat of the moment but from the manager it’s different. He’s the boss, so it’s an abuse of his power." Not one player said anything in over a year? Awful. The fact it was not picked up by those off the field equally awful.

These are matters that should be referred to the Police, not just the FA. It's amazing that these allegations apparently took so long to surface when it seems to have been so prevalent for such a long time. It's sickening even if only half of it is true. What a toxic place it must have been for all the players to endure that kind of vile behaviour.

Just as surprising is that such toxicity didn't impact upon team spirit (especially amongst those discriminated against - if true) that the club went into a terminal tailspin instead of keeping a steady grip on their Football League status

Same as a certain Essex boy we know about. Did he ever complete that mandatory education course following a breach of FA Rule E3? | | | | Login to get fewer ads
