Is incredible. Complete conspiracy bunkum. For christ sake celebrate the fact that we don’t have 100s dying with the current case rate. No one is trying to control you. Just get vaccinated and protect lives. Enough. I speak this as an ordinary Joe. I want my daughter to go to university in September with proper teaching. I want my son to take his GCSEs next year and have a clear year without constant uncertainty. I want to go back to my office and my lab to do what I do well. Not zoom followed by teams and recording lectures and virtual lab meetings.
Vaccines, lockdowns or corpses. That’s the choice. Don’t be a selfish dicky, help yourself and help other.

What I want is you to acknowledge that we don't know what the future holds regarding a novel vaccine for a novel virus.

I would also like you to explain to everyone why the mortality rate for hospitalised delta strain patients is 4 times higher for those with double vaccinations than those with one or none and those with one vaccination is higher than those unvaccinated.

This was predicted by those experts that you say are useless.

Is it? Any evidence?

Ok Fair point 7 months not 2 years - It just seems like 2 years because all we've heard about since the first jab is the incessant propaganda. I have never seen a tv Programme on tv regarding how this vaccine is supposed to work. Joe Public unfortunately is not privy to what goes on in medical lecture theatres.

I thought the Welsh stats showed that the Delta variant mortality rate was much lower in those with both doses.

I definitely sa that the Delta variant was being spread motly by the under 25's. It was mentioned when the news were broadcasting from one of the music festivals that's been allowed to happen. Seeing as the under 25 ages have hardly been vaccinated yet, it makes "4 times as high" seem unlikely.

Where is the link? Where is the evidence? What are the official stats?

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

It is much lower.

I think AFD is basing this on official stats but without context.

It only looks at hospital admissions and deaths and is based on a tiny sample which is probably statistically insignificant.

I think the stats are something like 80 confirmed delta deaths, 50 weren't vaccinated at all, 10 had received one dose and 20 both doses.

Of course if you just look at those stats it looks bad, but needs to be taken with a pinch of salt. One dose obviously doesn't give you more protection than two, and the majority of those who will have had two doses at the time they contracted covid would have been the very vulnerable anyway.

It also considers a minority of people who end up in hospital after being vaccinated. They clearly have significant other issues. It doesn't reflect the performance of the vaccine in the general population.

Yeah ok, that story says the vaccine is effective at preventing hopsitalisation. It also says of the 806 hospitalised that 65% of them were not vaccinated (527) and 17% (135) had received one dose. There are 73 deaths as of June 14 of which 47% were not vaccinated. That's not 4 times as many to start with.
There are over 75000 delta variant caes in the UK, that was 2 days ago. The numbers you are making a fuss about are infinitesmally small.
I had far more chance of dying on the operating table last week.

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

It is not the overall numbers it is the protection the Vaccine offers against death compared to the non vaccinated.
If you are hospitalised the double dose is much worse than a single dose and much worse than no dose.
Yes the numbers are very low, but so are the numbers for the unvaccinated, even lower in fact and for how long as the Delta version continues to spread?

More shocking facts
151,000 NHS staff have not been vaccinated nearly 10%
In parts of London it is as high as 20%.

Surely the least that patients can expect is everyone they come into contact with in a hospital has been fully vaccinated. After all you have to provide a negative test before they let you into hospital for treatment.

Among care home workers 52,000 are unvaccinated that is a shocking 16%.

This nothing short of a national disgrace.

I have. It would be interesting to see it split into roles and demographics. I bit they are similar to those in care homes that haven't had the vaccine too.

None of my friends who work for the NHS have refused the vaccine. In fact they were all incredibly relieved to get it so soon.

Yes after all they have seen the 100,000 of deaths and the huge amount of suffering caused by the virus makes you wonder why they refuse it.

Certainly any NHS member of staff, provided they have no medical reason for not being vaccinated, should be required to be so or lose their job.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

Do you want to close hospitals and cause even more delays for those needing urgent treatment?
It doesn't sound like a good idea to me.

If it save lives and stops infections why not. Might be an incentive to get vaccinated if you lose your job. The NHS is vastly over staffed in its non medical staff. Time to prune the deadwood and employ staff who care about patients.

I don't know about that, it may be true but in my wife's department they are understaffed in non medical staff. Her job role has expanded as she's had to pick up work not part of her job description because people weren't replaced.

Some letters are weeks behind being sent out. That is true for othger depts too based on what colleagues tell her.

Same as my wife. She is picking up more admin duties as they are short staffed. How the hell is she expected to do with her clinics full and not enough time to do her own work. She is at bursting point and wants to leave unless things change soon.

Efficiency is one thing but blood out of a stone is another.

I am shocked, however, at those numbers that have not been vaccinated in the NHS. I did say that my colleague had an uncle that died in the last couple of weeks from covid. He didn't have the vaccine but he didn't trust it. My colleague said it was a typical West Indian generation thing.

If Covid gets into a hospital it stops treatments anyway. They wait until it's clear again and besides, staff will be off sick limiting what they can do.

So let me check your rationale.
You appear to be suggesting that it would be better to sack all the Unvaccinated staff and cause an immediate staffing crisis.
Against the possibilty that COVID will get in to the hospital.
Except of course sacking the staff won't actually stop it getting in to the hospital, only reduce the possibility.
But sacking the staff will definitely cause staffing shortages.
OK, got it.

If an unvaccinated NHS worker brings coronavirus into a hospital and starts infecting others they have to shut the hospital to all but emergency cases anyway. Do you think that is a good idea.

If an unvaccinated patient comes in to hospital, the same applies.
Are you going to deny them treatment?

Can you name one hospital that has COVID cases now that only has ED services?

In addition to those who aren’t on sick with Covid there’ll be the staff who have to SI after being in contact with co workers.

I know an NHS worker who spent the best part of 5 weeks off work during December and January after having to SI on 2 separate periods before catching it themselves.
