Stefan johansen. on 15:48 - May 9 with 2766 views | dmm | Was Johansen as good for Fulham as he's been for us? Few seemed to know who he was before he came, myself included. Warburton's phrase that "QPR suits Johansen and Johansen suits QPR" sounds like the line he'll have taken in trying to persuade him to stay.

Stefan johansen. on 15:33 - May 9 by Blue_Castello | Think people are being realistic not pessimistic, he's under contract at Fulham with a year to go and reportedly on something around 25 to 30k per week, who knows exactly, Fulham have been paying some very high wages in the last 2 or 3 years. Personally I would love to see him back, he is pure class and has helped us look like a top 6 side since January. Fulham have a team full of loanees , the majority will return to their parent clubs and they will reassess their squad, Johanson has got them promoted twice before and he's their player to keep. In other words it's highly unlikely he will be released, if he was he would cost a transfer fee and a big wage which we can't afford......like everybody else I'm disappointed but we will have to look elsewhere. |
Foolham will have to do quite a PR job on him to keep him motivated, don't you think? Imagine that you've been bombed out from a squad that's just got itself relegated, and the manager comes to you and goes: "Yes, I know I wouldn't give you the time of day last season, when we were playing at a level that I didn't think you were good enough for, which is why I decided to give your place to a player that doesn't even belong to us. However, now that we've got relegated and that player doesn't want to hang around anymore, I've decided that since you're already here and have shown that you can play a bit after all, I could actually do with you turning out for us - what do you say?" I know that my response to him would be probably not quite what he was hoping for..

I totally agree Scott Parker has got a real job on his hands getting him back into the squad , motivating him , as you say if I were Johanson I would be right royally peed off. Trouble still exists he's their player on a far bigger wage than we can afford, Johanson may use it as an opportunity to negotiate even more money with Fulham. At the end of the day every player will look after themselves first and foremost, he knows he only has a few more years earning the big money and every player has an agent doing the negotiating.....

If I was Sir Les, I'd be doing a big sell job on him by saying; "Look, you know we love you here. We've effectively built a team around you, and we believe that you can get us promoted. If you're prepared to give us a year, I guarantee that if you get us up, we'll make sure that you get massively rewarded". Momentum's a big thing in football, as we keep hearing. Compare that situation to Fulham's, where they're feeling bruised and battered and where they've got a rebuilding job on their hands, and suddenly we look a pretty attractive proposition. The future's bright - the future's blue and white
Stefan johansen. on 16:59 - May 9 with 2571 views | eastside_r | I certainly think this is in the balance and I hope that the powers that be (Lee & Les) are willing to be creative and negotiate. If Johansen has a year left at between £25 & 30k per week then that is between £1 & £1.5M. What is his expectation of his next contract given that he is 30? It really does depend on what the player wants. Do transfer requests by players happen any more? How much affinity does he have with Fulham, I see that they previously loaned him out to West Brom as well in 2019? I note that we also have a vacancy as Club Captain.

Stefan johansen. on 17:42 - May 9 with 2501 views | simmo | Stefan, or a player as close to him as possible, could be the difference between next season being a success or not. He's completely transformed our midfield and improved Chair and Willock. More important that Austin on the pitch IMO, but looks the player least likely to be available, not least because Fulham could actually make use of him now they're down.

As I said earlier in the thread, Simmo - you're assuming that Johansen will be happy to be "useful" at Fulham, which is far from a given, since they bombed him out this season. When you look at his body language and demeanour on the pitch, he doesn't strike me as someone to be messed about with, so I think Colonel Parker will not find him particularly amenable to being "welcomed" back into a dispirited squad. Its funny how many Rs fans don't realise that we are a pretty attractive proposition atm! | | | | Login to get fewer ads

No it doesn't really depend on what the player wants. He is under contract to Fulham, it is what they want. I get all this he may not be very happy with the way he has been treated and that he has been great for us etc but he is Fulham's to use or sell. He can either go along with their wishes or breach his contract. As far as I know they weren't trying to sell him in January, so this was only ever meant to be a loan.

..Or he puts in an official transfer request, and then Fulham would be mad to try and keep an unmotivated player..

Stefan johansen. on 19:45 - May 9 with 2251 views | enfieldargh | really depends on whether the owners want to splash the cash a little and go against the new ethos we are striving to maintain. If SJ is on 30kpw then thats around 1.5m plus say 500k fee. Give him a 3 year deal but pay him the 1.5 as a signing on fee. Notice Ruben & Amit at the game yesterday doubt they will want to see CA & SJ go. Not keeping my hopes up but it could be doable provided Lee Hoos doesnt put his foot down and walk. If theres no FFP next season and they are pumping money into the club each month anyway, after what they spaffed away last time 3 million is chicken feed. Sweet dreams Enfield

Stefan johansen. on 20:24 - May 9 with 2159 views | gazza1 | Realistically I think his Fulham career is over......how can you 'fxck someone off' and not play him in what I would think is in his dreams by playing in the Premier and then offer him a place in the Championship squad. Dont think it will happen and if Parker does want him back then he may have a problem on his hands. If we can negotiate a contract with him he could well be part of our squad next season. Now I don't talk about what they get paid because I don't know that sort of detail but I have been reliably informed that he is earning around £15k so we may be able to afford him if we offer bonuses, etc, etc.

Exactly... and with a promotion bonus perhaps. He knows what a decent season we’ve had since he’s arrived and he’s clearly happy as his football shows. Also, he has a kid at school and training is 5 mins further ( WLS) and home/family life is important
Stefan johansen. on 22:10 - May 9 with 1956 views | VancouverHoop | I asked a good friend who's a very craven cottager what he thought the chances of keeping JoJo: "Pretty good - he seems to like the Loftusdrome, is almost thirty and we have eleven attacking midfielders!" So, let's hope he's right.

Imagine the boost it would give to the squad and fans going into next season
Stefan johansen. on 22:34 - May 9 with 1908 views | ed_83 | He’s been the single most important player in our turnaround this season, the best passer of the ball we’ve had since Faurlin, and makes the players around him, particularly Willock and Chair, better as well. We have to do everything we can to keep him. Sadly, I think it’s hugely unlikely. As with Charlie, I think the gap between the wages he’s on, what he could command elsewhere, and what we can offer is just too big. I reckon the best way to approach all of this as fans is to accept that he probably won’t be here next season, trust in the coaching and recruitment teams to find the right player to replace him if he doesn’t come back, and be overjoyed if somehow we do re-sign him.
Stefan johansen. on 10:00 - May 10 with 1714 views | robith | We need to think about not "Johansen" but what are the attributes Johansen has that makes the team tick so much and how we have that next year. If it's the real Johansen, all the better, but we should probably be looking for his Mexican non union equivalent
Stefan johansen. on 10:34 - May 10 with 1638 views | rsonist | Fulham exiled then brought him back into the fold the last time they yo-yoed. IIRC it was a bit strained with Parker wanting him to play a more restricted defensive role, but no big deal. They'll be doing the same with Rodak and Hector now as well. He mentioned the appeal of not unsettling his family when joining us and quite rightly, as he's proven so thoroughly, at only 30 doesn't see himself as a squad filler veteran type. Pretty sure he would swallow his pride and be fine with resuming there if they were willing to commit to him as they did before, at least to a meaningful extent. It's a year remaining on a good contract and a lot of good history. Unless there's a change of management though it's probably more likely they'll look to see what they can do in the market first and then review it later doors. Then it would be a question of who else comes in offering what. There's no use us carrying on at the board here, the boat won't push out any further. There will be no Hoosonomics either. It's a similar situation to CA for him except for the important part that it's actually likely he will get other offers. I'm sure he's quite aware he'll be a king here, playing whatever role he fancies in a fun side in a place where his family are settled - it's worth remembering/straw-grasping how badly his West Brom loan went btw - but there's a limit to how much money anyone's going to leave on the table. If Fulham succeed in revamping, if no one else comes in with an attractive enough offer to him, then maybe we can wangle like another season loan paying half the contract. FiveThirtyEight probability 10% max.
