It’s with a very heavy heart but I think somebody has to say it...the only way we will get Bottomley and this inept manager out of the Club is to refuse to purchase season tickets, otherwise we are funding their wages. The renewing of BBMs contract was the equivalent of putting two big fat fingers up to all of the Supporters, well it’s time the Supporters returned the compliment!

Plenty of times people have come on here over the years and said how they no longer want to put money into the club. It’s up to individuals how they wish to spend their money but my view has always been to support the club.

This feels different though. I’ve never felt more disconnected. I can deal with us being rubbish and I can deal with us being relegated. But it’s reached the point where I feel something drastic needs to happen to get the club back on track.

An organised protest / boycott is the only thing I can see making a difference.

I’ve not misread anything.

I’ve read Rochdale fans encouraging other Rochdale fans to cut off the lifeblood of our income.

It doesn’t matter who’s in charge, that is as good as turning off the life support.

Let’s get Bottomley out of the club democratically & ensure we sell more season tickets than ever.

Which is precisely what the other thread is about, demonstrating that you've misread the room

It concerns me greatly if you & other “fans” can that easily cut off financial support for our club at the most critical time in its history.

I genuinely believe that myself and many other shareholders will be using all logical & rational options available to us to do as much as we possibly can to ensure Chris Dunphy is able to return to our club and deal with the problems at hand.

We will already begin next season in a pathetic state financially, if you choose to make that situation worse then I seriously question your “fan” status.

I'll ask again

How you going to achieve that.

An EGM must be called by all shareholders to kickstart the proposals.

Withholding funds from the club will only deepen our precarious position.

I feel for you lads and I don't want to see Dale go down but its looking more likely by the week that you will but boycotting season tickets isn't the answer, the past two seasons have been financially horrific for football clubs and Dale aren't any different, they will be looking to get some much needed funds coming in to pay overdue bills ect and keep the wolf from the door and with nobody coming through the turnstiles for another four months at least it might finish them off, things are looking bad now but they could be worst

Sort of agree with your thinking Chalkz...yes bills have to be paid.....but what has priority, BotBot's salary and bonus or the the lecky bill?

As the Trust are governed by the votes of their members I would have thought that there are two motions:

(1) The idea - should the Trust be willing to hold the money from unhappy supporters who do not want to give it to the current leadership but would, happily give it to the club?

(2) The deployment of funds - the Trust will not deploy that money into the club until a suitable vote of its members passing a motion to do so.

Pardon the pun but I'd trust the Trust.

Before the pandemic we had about 2,500 season ticket holders, most of which weren’t members of the Trust so I don’t see those people handing their ST money over to a third party to hold. I don’t see what it would achieve anyway apart from confusion. I would imagine those deciding not to purchase will just keep the money in their bank like they always have done. The ones who do decide to purchase ST under the current regime are in no way letting anybody down or supporting what we are now seeing on and off the pitch, we all do what we have to do, so there should be no divide and fall out amongst the fans. Ideally we would all be chomping at the bit to renew season tickets.
Personally, the thought of sitting in my seat and looking over at the Directors box and seeing the CEO isn’t one i want to contemplate, especially knowing that my money is keeping him in a job. Then we have BBM a manager who must have known that the contract renewal was being kept from the supporters and a manager who must realise he is failing big time in his job...if he had any affinity for the Club he would have resigned months ago. The contract renewal and the underhanded way in which it was conducted is what has finally made my mind up about the CEO and i’m not funding his madcap behaviour any longer. I’d rather start again in the NW Counties League than give any money to these who are currently running the Club, to be honest i’m Surprised the shareholders are all sitting on their hands and allowing this to happen in the first place.

There were some around Gig Lane saying the same thing a coupleof years ago.

Things will not improve without major changes. We have hit the perfect storm, Board and management havent a clue. Changes needed not contract extensions.

Your concerns are totally valid BUT drastic action has to be taken here. The way to make something happen successfully is to force the opposition's hand. In this instance it is to cut off financial revenue temporarily until the changes required are put into action. It could be said that supporters are 'going on strike' until better terms are met.

Personally I really think calling a fellow fan's status out is bang out of order. Not trying to encourage disharmony in the fanbase or be divisive, but how an individual chooses to support anything is down to them, their conscience and their circumstances.

The current regime, in both actions and communication (or lack thereof) have made it abundantly clear how unimportant it considers fans to be. We are just an income stream to those in charge and nothing else, no matter what spin anyone tries to put on it. We are tapped up when needed and ignored when not.

Most fans are not shareholders. I don't think any fan wants to see the club fold either. But the old adage "money talks" has never been more pertinent. The more people who back an initiative to temporarily withhold funding in order to have our voices heard and to ensure regime change, the better in my view. Just as one would stop funding a charity that has been profligate with donations, so too, in my opinion, should we take a similar stance with financial support of a regime that is demonstrably and serially unqualified and unfit for purpose.

If you can gain traction to effect change through the route of being a shareholder I applaud your actions. Putting all your eggs in that basket and hoping and praying it works is as one-dimensional as BBMs tactics, however. We need to have multiple fronts on which to attack combined with back-up plans or we will end up not getting a result and losing. We've seen it too often on the field. We can't let it happen off it too.

I know what you are saying but I would say immediate money to pay the leccy bill, players wages and ground rent etc, what player is going to come to the club if the fans aren't behind the club and there may not be the funds to pay his wages which I'm presuming will already be cut from what he was getting in previous seasons, last season when Notts offered to renew players contracts it was with a 25% wage cut but the majority still signed because it's a buyers market

I know that it's hard to just blindly hand over your money and put up with it but maybe for one season it would be for the best,at least you get to see Dale and relive the Saturday afternoon experience again, boardroom staff won't go overnight

Are you DB, 1907 or someone very close to DB?

You've gone from raving about him being "inspirational" to telling us we will have no club to support at the end of our "little strike".

We know he is the one running the club into the ground. Who else signed off on BBM'S secret deal, abd signed off on closi g the Goldbond - a major income source?

DB has run this club from top to bottom since Dunphy was dethroned. Dunphy's own words were that he couldn't be the mouthpiece for others.

We will have a club next year in League 2, but the fans now won't get behind it until DB is gone.

The writing is on the wall for DB and we have 15 years of steady progress being spectacularly undermined.

DB should be sitting thinking of his own legacy as a Dale fan and how he will be remembered.

Secure Chris Dunphy's return and gracefully step aside is the right thing to do, especially if the club is as skint as you hint at and he has a chance for some redemption with the fanbase.

The alternative legacy is to try to cling on to power - a hard Summer a d a difficult start to a League 2 campaign with no money to build a squad.

His choice.
