| Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back. |

I remember this one. Villa had come down to the 3rd division. Big crowd. My first time on the north bank with the old man, we normally went in the double decker but it was full.

Yes Villa's second visit in the 3rd division, had played them in August the previous season. Lost both times 1-2

The two opposition players I remember from around that time were Andy Lochhead of Villa and Tony Hateley of Notts County. Mainly because I was fascinated why they were allowed to use our players' shoulders to aid their jump for their heading. And I mean both hands on the shoulders to propel themselves up and hold our players down, nothing subtle. I did it in school straight after and got a free kick against me and a punch in the chops for my pains. The free kick outraged me...but sir....Tony Hateley...

If you've got your dates right then. Swansea City 3-2 Southend Utd A classic game. 1-0 up, then 2-1 down with less than 10 mins left. Pulled one back before a Waddle scuffed shot hit the net in injury time. We were promoted 13 days later.
