I was heading to Gloucester v Blyth Spartans and still will be tomorrow. I think the non-league as it stands have chosen to continue so I'll do a bit of ground hopping with my 5 year old in the next few weeks.

Talking of ground hopping DY if you are quick enough you might catch the 2nd half at Halifax (after Gloucester)....they kick off at 17.20 at the Shay....WTF?
Good luck and stay safe.......only elbow touching!

If the season can't be completed, this has to be the fairest way to do it. 80% of the season is complete so its a fair indication of where teams would finish. Can't see Liverpool, Leeds, West Brom or Coventry accepting that the season should be scrapped. Tables should be based on 80% of what has happened rather than 20% of what might have. Hopefully, though, we'll manage somehow to get the season finished although I'm not sure how this will happen. Can't go past the end of June as players will be out of contract. Interesting times ahead.
If the season is wiped completely and we start again next year with the same sides, you know what is going to happen the other side of heywood, those morons will be at the EFL saying we should’ve put back in etc as we started the season.
I honestly can’t see how any solution other than making this season null and void is fair, but then the likes of Crewe and Leeds will moan.
It’s a no win

The Halifax game is live on BT Sport.
When I was your age, I used to enjoy the odd game of tennis. Or was it golf?

I think there's two issues under consideration: one is the effect of mass gatherings and the second is the fitness of the players. On the first issue, the expert advice was to carry on as normal, because currently the numbers of infected in the general population is pretty small and even if you are infected you won't pass it on to loads of people - its worse, say the experts, to be sat in the pub watching a match than attending it. So on this first issue I would be fine to go along with the experts and carry on with games. The second issue though is harder to get around - if players and managers are getting the virus and having to 'self-isolate' then it won't be long before teams simply won't have a squad to put out for a game. So for those reasons, rather than the first, postponing things now might have been the only option.
However, from what the scientists are saying the peak of this thing is coming in May/June, so I can't imagine that 3 weeks from now is going to make much difference. Therefore I imagine the suspension will have to continue until beyond the peak time, which is going to mean June at the earliest.
if the Euros do get moved to 2021, this does leave the summer free. Finish off the season in the summer? Start next season a bit later? Given the winter world cup is going to make the season after that all over the place anyway maybe we can just have a few seasons where things are a bit different?
I would much prefer the season get finished than to leave things as they stand or just make the whole thing null and void.

Agree with this
I'd be an advocate of starting every season at the beginning of September, and who knows, the sequencing of games/tournaments might well lead to this being considered as the default in future
The Shaymen are doing 10 quid entry for anyone presenting a season ticket from another club on Saturday. Although it is on TV, might be the last chance to see live football for a while if anyone is close by.

I wonder where this leaves our plans for the major pitch renovations that are pencilled in for May. Maybe bring it forward and get the work done now. Can't see us playing a home game for a while.

Can see it not happening unless the start of next season is delayed.

My take on this is the scientific evidence regarding phases of the epidemic have been discarded in favour of political expediency - but i don't blame the politicians. The outcry over being the "outlier" in terms of national responses was becoming too much
Herd mentality wins over herd immunity
The result? Immunity will take longer to develop and the usual outcome of that is more deaths, perhaps not in this outbreak but those coming down the line
100% this, and less than 24 hours after Boris publicly announced that his experts, in line with the general scientific consensus, have reported that banning huge public gatherings like this won’t have any benefit.

Thing is if this was Corbyn stood there advising this course of action, flanked by his advisors would you all swallow it? I’m betting not

I’m a Corbyn fan, and Labour voter. I’m not a huge Boris fan but I see no reason to denigrate him for how he’s acted during this crisis. Nor do I see a reason to make this discussion any more political than it needs to be.

Me neither, I’m just a bit sceptical of Boris and the fact we are going against what everyone else is doing . If this turns out to be right, I will congratulate Boris on ‘doing the right thing’ . I’m more interested in normal life resuming ASAP .
