Phil Parkinson on 12:03 - Oct 18 with 4942 views | EllDale | Parkin has a pretty impressive CV since leaving us. He was coach at Hull City under Phil Brown when they got promoted to the Premier League and he and Parkinson had plenty of success at Bradford City (promotion from L2 and a Carling Cup final) before getting Bolton promoted and keeping them up for a season in the championship.

I always found Parkin a strange guy to speak to, he was a strange chap. Jamie Hoyland I always found an absolute gentleman and a pleasure to be around, yet he was meant to be a bully and widely disliked.

Parkin is one of the nicest, open and straightforward people I’ve interviewed. Could definitely see how he was an effective manager.

Got to agree with that. I remember speaking to Parkin when Gary Jones broke the club appearance record. He couldn't do enough for me and gave me plenty of quotes and information to enhance what I was putting together.

I always found him really hit or miss fitz, but I only ever met him off the cuff and in passing. I don’t dislike the guy but he was unpredictable. Did you ever have dealings with Jamie?

No, only Paul Simpson, who was also a thoroughly decent chap, given he didn’t have the best time here.

Kept Macc up last season after they looked doomed before he took over. He's got a job on his hands because Southend were woeful against us and don't seem to have improved a great deal since. Good luck to him.

Down to nine men for much of the game, Ethan Hamilton one of those sent off. Wonder if he regrets his decision to go there now, if indeed it was his choice?
