Hypothetical question but.. 09:26 - Sep 4 with 6976 views | RblockPrior | If and it is a massive if we are around the playoffs come January do you think we will take a punt and try to spend a little? Now I know we haven't got a lot, however I just wonder if we would dip into any of the budget we would have set aside for the next summer window to give us a chance of play offs.

I agree. As tempting as it would be we would have to stand strong and stick by the plan.

Hypothetical question but.. on 09:37 - Sep 4 with 5100 views | Northernr | The huge summer clear out has actually left us with *some* FFP headroom for January and next summer I'm told - hence the £3m bid for the Aberdeen lad.
Hypothetical question but.. on 09:53 - Sep 4 with 5028 views | stevec | Probably a subject best left alone for now but if we were around the play offs come January it would be foolish not to. £150 mill versus nil mill, those opportunities don't come along very often.
Hypothetical question but.. on 10:07 - Sep 4 with 4993 views | eghamranger | Why rock the boat?? Most positions covered. Maybe another bid for the Aberdeen centre back but that’s it. So far so good with the management and team so let’s leave it in their capable hands. 🙠

Yep, we still have a bit of powder left, baby steps, next summer, if we can top up this squad with similar quality, it will be interesting! Maybe some of that money will now be used to top up, Eze, Chair, Manning and Halls contracts?

You have to look at the probabilities. It's all very well saying "£150 mill versus nil mill", but out of the teams filling the top, say, ten places in January, a maximum of three will get promoted. The rest will have to live with their continued FFP struggle.

Hypothetical question but.. on 11:25 - Sep 4 with 4782 views | CliveWilsonSaid | I believe Warburton left Brentford for this very reason did he not? Their owner wanted to strengthen for a promotion push but he didn’t as he didn’t want to upset the balance in the squad.

Not exactly. The Brentford owner wanted to place more emphasis on the statistical modelling they had used to recruit players rather than the traditional scouting methods and MW felt he wouldn't have enough input on who came into the club. [Post edited 4 Sep 2019 11:40]

Hypothetical question but.. on 11:59 - Sep 4 with 4699 views | DavieQPR | £150m v 0m. How about minus £3m for not achieving. Next seasons budget will largely comprise of money freed at end of this season. We have a large enough squad at the moment. It would more than likely be a one in one out scenario for quite a while.

Hypothetical question but.. on 13:36 - Sep 4 with 4530 views | Toast_R | QPR making the play offs is a ridiculous thought. This team has a long losing streak in there somewhere which will absolutely surface at some point. Lose to Luton next week and it will be all about finishing 21st
Hypothetical question but.. on 13:38 - Sep 4 with 4519 views | cpgerber | Maybe a loan or two, depending on what the injury list looks like at the time. Can't imagine it would be wise risk big spending.

Hardly - we would still be mid table with an OK start to the season.

Imo bar any bad injuries or key players leaving in Jan this team will be closer to 6th than 22nd come the end of the season. My prediction as things stand is 11th

Seems you’re correct. A couple of good articles here about it. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/31489212 https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11748/9856384/mark-warburton-admits-his- I do remember a story about him refusing signings though. Also talking to a Brentford fan the other week who said the same thing. That he didn’t want to upset the squad balance. [Post edited 4 Sep 2019 14:21]
