Laudrup on 18:00 - May 9 with 2619 views | MoscowJack | ML did the same at every club - one season of magic and another planning an exit. It's what he's done everywhere. He's invented issues with chairman/presidents/owners at every club, whilst filling his pockets with 'secret' deals via his scum of an agent. His first year will still go down as my 2nd favourite ever (1981 was the best for me as I was younger at the time and it was just incredible) but it was our best football ever, without doubt. ML deserves huge credit for that. Our mistake, as with several key players, was the replacement. I wasn't against Monk's appointment, at the time, but I was wrong. Ps Laudrup plays football most Wednesdays right next to where I play padel and he's still gliding around the pitch like a PL footballer. It's wonderful to watch, actually.

If that's the case, why did he decide to sign a new contract ? I also think it's fair to say that he didn't really invent issues with our chairman either, his problem IMO is that he just has a low bullsh1te threshold, something that Huw is famous for spouting in bucket loads .

His “Scum of an agent” got us some pretty good players , quite cheaply and without whom you would not have enjoyed your 2nd favorite season , because it wouldn’t have happened. If you’re accusing Laudrup of f*cking the club over and damaging it financially - do you think Huw, who wasted the best part of 100 million was better? Get over yourself FFS

Laudrup on 12:33 - May 8 by icecoldjack | I think many said it the time including myself that we won't realise what we missed with Laudrup until later on. There was a chance to be a niche premier league club that would have a choice of top Spanish talent and players from elsewhere purely because of his status as a player in Europe. Players wanted to play under him and it would have been the perfect stepping stone club for many . Remember Laudrup saying sign championship players , end up in the championship? It was about right IMO . The moment he was sacked was the moment recruitment became a joke, a real shame for me, especially as him and his wife really enjoyed living in the area and were happy . Sacked by e mail because he didn't want poison monk on his coaching staff undermining him all the time, some thing he did as a player constantly . |
A fantastic time possibly the best or up there with the four or five best periods the club has experienced. Agree with most of the above but.... We would have had to live off a small squad and the academy which i would argue is championship level. The parallels with Toshs 2nd season in the first division might have been realised. Michu, Guz, Herns and others were carrying knocks and with Michaels policy he would have been forced to blood youngsters imo. the other more key issue is that ML was only planning on two years. clearly that was not going to work. one mistake was appointing Monk there should have been a continuation with a laudrup recommendation then the Bayram issues he is a very wealthy man pity he doesnt have Potters philisophy [Post edited 9 May 2019 20:50]

You're confusing my dislike for ML's agent with my disappointment and frustration at seeing Jenkins waste almost every penny we spent on recruitment after ML's departure. ML's agent was a parasite and was happy to porn our players around to other clubs, despite the club being unwilling to sell them. We didn't want key players to be unsettled, but ML's agent didn't care about that. He was taking backhanders from players and clubs to secure a transfer to our club and is as low in the hierarchy of agents as one can be. Did he secure some magnificent signings? Yes, but we had also secured some great players in the many years before ML's arrival - sadly, very few since! Let's not forget the ones that didn't quite cut the mustard too, so it wasn't all magic tricks from him. I know that the deal that HJ gave ML's agent was a stupid and crazy one to hand out, and that's his fault, but you don't have to be a genius to work out that ML's agent is absolute pure thieving scum. Just google his name and any of the words scandal, dodgy, etc. As I said before, what he stole from our club is less than Jenkins wasted, but I honestly don't think Jenkins deliberately bought bad players - he was just useless at attracting good players by the end....or lazy. Ps reading your message again, I'm blaming Bayram, but ML will have known what was going on, and more probably profiting from it too.

Look, there's a difference between getting very well paid (I'm happy with that) and raping the club, causing all sorts of issues by sending our players' CVs to all and Sundry as well as doing deals with incoming players to get an illegal cut from their salaries. He is absolute scum and not the type that we should want associated with the club. Is he the only agent capable of bringing in good talent for us? No, he's not, so we didn't have to deal with him. The biggest problem we had, for many years, has been finding better than we previously lost. That includes players, managers and agents.

Laudrup on 17:15 - May 14 with 1571 views | vetchonian | Why 6 years on we are still debating this is beyond me....Laudrup's appointment saw a turning point in that we as a club were at a point of change as the "band of brothers" squad that had brought us up the leagues began to need refreshing. There is a thread here discusiing Fabien Brandy and he talks of that bond....it was a major factor in the success. Unfortunately the PL brought issues especially payment of players and during the Laudrup reign a lot of the previous pay regime and structure was broken.....as the squad was changing this "togetherness " changed too. For whatever reason in his second season Laudrup lost the magic...possibly as a result of losing the dressing room with the issues with ~Monk. Huw had a huge part to play in appointing Monk full time and that was the final nail in the coffin...although the decline had stared sooner...but it was lost in the glory of Laudrups first season. The revelations of Tumultu's dealing shows that he casued this club damage.....further fuleed by HJ's ineptitude and arrogance. But that gone a long time ago...I really enjoyed that first season and significannlty that first half against WBA ...its still talked about even Curt recently has brought it up.....but that was only 45 mins out of how many minutes we played under Laudrup? HE gave us the League cup win with those victories over Chelsea and Liverpool some great European nights but he was out mastered in that second half against West Brom... Thank you Mike but that was then...we have had 6 other "managers" since not including Curt and Leon....and it looks like we might soon be on the lookout for no 7..the king is dead long live the king

As long as we are in the sh!t people are always going to look back to the point where it all started to go wrong. Jenkins picking the wrong warring faction to support and sacking ML was the start. Closely followed by his egotistical trip and thinking he was the football messiah before selling the club by very dubious means. It has been done to death in the past though. I agree on that but it isn't going away. It will never be airbrushed from our history.

You'd have to go a fair bit to be more bent than the previous and current owners though ! So what Tutu got his end, if he was bringing in utter dog players then I can see the argument but the list of Michu Pablo Chico JDG Pozuelo Canas For around 10 million quid is good going, especially as that equates to just over half a Sam clucas ! Anyway, all water over the bridge now .
