I'm not going anywhere near him after he's inhaled half a ton of sprouts yesterday. He'll be reeking.

Why did they follow and write about him?

Jesus on 09:35 - Dec 26 with 6664 views | Scotia | I lived with a history student in uni. Apparently Jesus is well documented and definitely existed. Apparently he was considered to be a religious leader of some sort. I suspect the rest is guff though.

Jesus on 09:42 - Dec 26 with 6642 views | Jackfath | If he did exist, why did people make up, and still believe his magical abilities? I've so many questions and very few answers on this topic which shows a distinct lack of belief and ignorance. Do we have any strong believers here willing to debate this in the way Jesus would have wanted us to?

Look at the way North Korea have made up things over the last few decades about their leader. Even easier to do back then. As has been said, Jesus has been well documented...and even as an atheist I can accept that. All of the magical stuff though is a load of rubbish just like most of the bible (as a factual text).

I've read (skimmed) many different theological theories, where does one begin? As historically real as Pontius Pilate, that's about it. The stories included in the bible were agreed at the treaty of Constantinople, years later, I think.

Why do supposed intelligent people still think that the magic happened?

Jesus on 10:20 - Dec 26 with 6532 views | Jack_Meoff | No wonder he was crucified. All that turning water into wine and feeding the multitudes with a loaf of Hovis and a few fish would be very bad for the profit margin...

You ‘suspect’ the rest is guff?? You mean you don’t think his mother was a virgin and his daddy a non existent sky fairy? Burn him.

Good question fathy. We as a race have been inventing higher powers to believe in since the dawn of our time. It’s a big, tough, scary universe out there; do people need reassurance there’s a reason to it? Do they need a way of reconciling what we/they don’t understand? Religion is interwoven with culture and tradition too, so for some is that the reason they partake rather than being ‘believers’?

I can see how a married woman could give the impression of being a virgin. As the saying goes, marriage is after all the best form of contraception
Jesus on 10:40 - Dec 26 with 6492 views | oldcob | Ironically the world of Islam holds Jesus with great reverence as a prophet of a very high order. Obviously they claim Jesus was a Muslim. When having my chemo sessions I down-loaded the Koran on my kindle and read it whilst receiving treatment, something I recommend, (not the chemo) and discovered it at least 90% similar to the bible. As with any religion it's all about how the individual takes it and lives it out. If a person who is bad will be bad whatever religion he follows.
Jesus on 10:45 - Dec 26 with 6484 views | dickythorpe | Only the book of Matthew documents the "virgin birth" I just believe that 2000 years ago, well before x boxes, pornhub, and real ales that many people needed a leader of sorts and the more academic used to record things and it all got put together into what we know as The Bible. Without dismissing Jesus completely you'd have to remember that anyone who was slightly more intelligent and articulate in those days would have appealed to those less brighter. Almost like modern day, we get bored with the "system", those of us who can't influence or change things always prick our years up to alternative and potentially positive new approaches.

Are you suggesting the Planet Earth is 2000 years old?

I knew a chap who was convinced the Earth was 2000 years old. Used to have great debates with him over a sandwich and cup of tea. He was a great man.
